There is mention of rockets being fired by the Bhosales of Nagpur at the battle of Kharda also (1795)
Tipu rockets are famous mainly because some of them reached England where one guy named Sir William Congreve saw them and developed his own rockets based on it.
Thanks to @YogirajMD for sharing this pic. , pertaining to the Battle of Wadgaon.

4th Jan 1779 was also the day Ishtur Phakda (Capt Stewart) died at Karla after being hit by musket and rocket fire.
Other arms of the artillery also better than Tipu.
To everyone pointing out rockets being in use in general (after all Diwali rocket is also a rocket) ;

The main issue here is use of IRON CANNISTER for holding the charge. Something Tipu is credited with.

But Forbes mentions it with reference to Marathas in 1770s.

Today is National Maritime Day

On 5th April 1919 an Indian owned ship the SS Loyalty sailed for Britain.

What was so special about this ? Let's see..
The EIC established a shipping monopoly. Indian carpenters , blacksmiths etc could not build a ship unless it had EIC blessings
19th century laws meant that a ship sailing to England as a rule should have 80% British officers. No Indian could command a ship built by Indians at Bombay Dockyard.
