Twitter isn’t any ordinary problem for crusty old men running Nigeria. It’s a catalyst for alarmingly fast social change that threatens their overall dominance. “Twitter feminist” is a slur, but also a real demographic of influential women changing discourse, attitudes, values.
Twitter feminists and influencers build huge followings, grow businesses supported by Twitter engagement, have more followers than politicians, actively serve as models of life, independence, values, attitudes directly challenging the idea crusty old men should dominate Nigeria.
Not only do Twitter feminists challenge Nigeria, they showed actual political power as brilliant organizers of #EndSARS movement that humiliated NG govt in front of the world and demonstrated what leadership could be without crusty old men’s brutality, thievery, and incompetence.
Political opposition, publicizing bad governance, human rights abuse, insults, criticism of crusty old men running Nigeria that flourish on Twitter aren’t all these relics fear. They also need to curtail all the loose women Twitter gives so much public space and social influence.

Africans do awful things we call “culture” and “tradition.” Your loved one dies, and instead of bringing you cooked food, money, labor, people bring their greedy ass to sit down expecting you—in grief and devastation—to cook and serve them food and alcohol. And refuse to leave!
Never have I seen oyibo come to your house when somebody dies without bringing cooked food. You may not want that casserole, but they’ll never expect you to feed and entertain them when your world fell apart. Some will even leave the food and not enter to disturb your mourning.
Oyibo will organize food DELIVERY, not food eating and wine drinking. They make schedules for who cooks which day so all don’t come one time, who comes to clean, who sleeps in your house to look after you. Everything is focused around comfort of the bereaved, not the “guests.”

You hear US politicians disgracing themselves on TV shouting critical race theory (CRT) is a pox on all our houses, they're gonna ban it, slap it, flip it, rub it down, but have absolutely no clue what it is? Are you wondering what even is this CRT? Well, come learn. 🧵🧵 1/13
CRT is a framework (ideas and understandings about reality and how things operate) that originated in legal studies through the work of Derrick Bell, along with Kimberlé Crenshaw, Richard Delgado, Mari Matsuda, others. It's a way to examine and understand how US law works. 2/13
Now you're thinking, people wanna ban somebody's type of legal analysis? Well, yes. But they don't even know what CRT is. They're racists and white supremacists who don't want public discussion and legal consideration of systemic racism and white people's unfair advantages. 3/13

So proud of my 14yo 9th grader. His AP Human Geography teacher asked them to argue "pros and cons" of gentrification. He called the assignment immoral and refused to agree you can consider it a "pro" when people benefit from real estate by destroying other people's communities.
Started yesterday and continues today. I'm writing in my office and hear him in class in his room. They're making arguments in small groups to present, and he's trying to convince his classmates it's all wrong and no position can be "pro." Babyboy handling the fight like a champ.
Yesterday's session was wild when the teacher introduced the assignment. He tried to ask her not to force the class to do this debate, and she told him to "calm down" that it wasn't real, it was "only hypothetical." He excused himself from class and went for a walk outside.

My child got sent to Zoom detention for not paying attention in Zoom 4th grade. Email said here’s the link to access the room to serve detention.

I swear I’m trying so hard to take this life seriously.
So, more details. This is an office referral, where the teacher gives repeated verbal warnings over time, then escalates to sending the child to the principal's office and notifying parents. At "detention" she's supposed to discuss and reflect with the behavior interventionist.
The repeated behavior the teacher warned my 9yo and emailed me previously about is my child's inability to focus consistently in online class and complete the assignments. She frequently gets distracted, plays computer games, ignores the teacher, or just signs off Zoom.

You'll never be prepared for anything you see in this video. You just won't. Subtitles and numbers were automatic cc, so there are blanks and errors, BUT it's necessary to see in writing what they're saying in this video. You'll need it trying to understand anything you witness.
I was watching like, wow, interesting how progressive the 70s were with so openly and naturally depicting plural relationships. And, also, like how they get a car inside the house? Then, the shit took the sharpest left turn.

Every mom I know (including me) has tried to hide from her kids to eat some little thing by herself. I'll never forget one time my friend called me from her car parked down the block from her house, cuz she had one taco and just wanted to eat it in peace without children begging.
If you don't live with children, I can't explain how difficult it is to eat your food without them asking for it. I can never sit down with my plate (even after giving them theirs!!) and my kids will leave me alone. Leftovers they ignored for days, the minute I eat, I must share.
ANYTHING I put near my mouth, my children will beg for. When I serve myself anything, I put extra knowing kids will magically appear from hidden corners all over the house to demand I give them a piece, a bite, a slice. And if I refuse, they stand and stare at me until I give in.
