good thread. The connection to devAnAM hR^idayebhyaH from shatarudrIya was also what came to mind. But there is another connection to the marut-s that I would like note. vedic sense of a~nji has some mystery to it. It has a clear connection to the marut-s. For e.g. we have
in the RV: ye pR^iShatIbhir R^iShTibhiH sAkaM vAshIbhir a~njibhiH | ajAyanta svabhAnavaH ||
It is normally translated as unguent. In fact has an IE pedigree with that word. However, it is mentioned here with the weapons of the marut-s R^iShTi (spear) and vAshI (battle pickaxe).
Here again it is mentioned with the battle axe, armor and gauntlets: ye a~njiShu ye vAshIShu svabhAnavaH srakShu rukmeShu khAdiShu | dantA~njin should be either interpreted as marked with a tusk or a tusk which is like that special attribute of the marut-s. The a~nji of the
marut-s is also notably said to be brilliant white in color. Some times the word a~nji is also taken to mean brilliant. So it could mean the lighting weapon of the marut-s and brilliant tooth of virUpAkSha dantA~njin. In any case this suggest an important link between the
marut-s and the later day gaNesha via the deity virUpAkSha dantA~njin of from the sAmavedic tradition

An example that illustrates how political medicine can be good. If there is strong political incentive or pressure to deliver what works rather than some good-sounding platitude then politicized medicine can be superior to non-political approaches -- incentives work. We saw how
Kagame reacted swiftly and I'd say reasonably effectively with the Wuhan disease. He also is trying to get vaccine produced locally with an eye on dissemination through Africa while using ivermectin. Likewise not this e.g., but increasingly in the west we see the reverse version
of political medicine where ideological incentives of navyonmAda addled academics and physicians bolstered by the piNDaka regime are driving contra-biological medical notions that are threatening to spread as practice. That combined with placing human life in the hands of

Now comes the interesting part that I suspected on first seeing the paper but did not get the time to investigate until recently. Their phylogenetic analysis looked faulty. A more unbiased analysis with maximum likelihood reveals that the claim of their new virus being a sister
group of both SARS1 and SARS2 looks rather shaky. Instead, it looks as though their new virus is member of the SARS2 clade, a sister group to both SARS2 and RaTG13. The SARS1 like clade is in turn a sister to this. It looks as though in the rush to claim an entirely new lineage
they biased their tree with lots of very closely related viral isolates that can only be termed strains or variants of their RaTG15. In conclusion all we can say is that they had several isolates specifically related to SARS2 in the Wuhan lab by 2015. Thus, the chances of some1

There has been a lot of chatter about the Wuhan lab quietly depositing a preprint describing a virus which they claim is a sister group to both Sars1 and Sars2 as per their phylogenetic analysis. They were sitting on the virus from 2015 & might have gotten from or near their
famous mine in Mojiang where RaTG13 was obtained from an published earlier. Thus, we hear from the horse's mouth that they were sitting on several SARS-like viruses in their institute from that time at least. Why did they wait this long to release this. Could they not have done
it along with RaTG13 which would have helped researchers studying these viruses? It could be an innocent fallout of the mindset they have repeatedly shown: rush to publish without careful analysis. Or (likely) they be purposely hide it in early 2020. Why? Moreover they have not

One of the responses from @cestlaviepriya said that chitragupta is mentioned in the R^igveda. This is a belief I've encountered among some kAyastha who believe chitragupta is their ancestor. However, a closer examination of that sUkta by sobhari kANva show that it is to indra.
In that indra is addressed as chitra. The reason for this is sobhari composed the sUkta for a ritual a great king named chitra who was liberal as indra. That is an earthly king ruling on the banks of a certain sarasvatI river. @PratyushPPEE remarked that it was parjanya. parjanya
is merely mentioned in the same sUkta as a simile for the liberality of the king chitra. Now the deity chitragupta finds first mention in a sUkta direct to him in the atharvaveda veda: 16.5 AV-vulgate/shaunaka. Here he is invoked as:

1. The heathen tradition survived the longest in Scandinavia. Like even in Sweden the killing of the king Sverker in 1156 CE might have been the last attempt at fighting against the crusade by the followers of the original religion. There was also a long struggle against Xtian
aggression in Norway well after the king converted & tried to impose his religion via missionaries. In Iceland the strong resistance resulted in compromise where the heathen practice was allowed even after u2 imposition. The polemical writings of u2s suggest that in some pockets
of Scandinavia the old IE religion persisted till at least the 1300s in the populace. 2. Even after conversion Snorri Sturluson an Icelander recorded heathen tradition with a relatively minor Xtian patina. 3. Even after Xtianization the Nordic authors recorded heathen traditions

I've been surveying brood X in a 2 sq km region that I walk through by foot. For some reason they are not doing well so far. The emerge alright from their 17 year underground larval development from those holes and molt. You can see the molts lying about
They proceed to their final molt usually alright
However at least about 1/5-1/4 seem to fail and die even as they are emerging from the molt.
In the 1st pic the one to the right has died while molting. In the 2nd pic 1 had died while emerging and is being scavenged by ants.
