Have some British media outlets become "no go areas" for responsible journalism?
If you're concerned about thIs inflammatory & divisive article there's something you can do:

1. Go to the article and take a screenshot showing the advertiser: dailymail.co.uk/femail/article…

2. Tweet the screenshot to the advertiser encouraging them to pull their ads from Mail Online Image
Meanwhile over at GB News... #Didsbury #WokeWatch #DontFundGBNews Image
"The 'no-go zones' theory, which is spread by global far-right pundits online has been widely debunked." indy100.com/news/daily-mai…

If you've wondered why the UK news industry has such a problem with institutional racism, it's worth remembering that the industry's Editors Code guidelines have a whole section spelling out that comparing African migrants to "cockroaches" is acceptable: editorscode.org.uk/downloads/code… Image
The UK news industry has specifically gone out of its way to ensure that articles which are "discriminatory against gay people in general, autistic people in general or transgender people in general" are permitted under its "Editors' Code": ipso.co.uk/news-press-rel… Image
In its decision to permit the publication of articles that are discriminatory towards entire groups of people, the UK news industry has put itself directly at odds with international standards for ethical journalism. For example the IFJ charter: ifj.org/who/rules-and-… Image

A quick update on #GBNews... A number of people have asked if we have any info on the advertisers who'll be supporting this controversial channel.... Image
The latest we've seen is that the GB News launch date has *still* not been confirmed. In the meantime #StopFundingHate has been developing a system to help track & identify as many advertisers as possible from the first day that GB News starts broadcasting... Image
We've been trialing this system with some advertiser monitoring on the Russian Government's notorious propaganda channel RT (formerly known as Russia Today, now broadcasting on UK Freeview channel 234) and it's already yielded some interesting results... theguardian.com/commentisfree/… Image

In his acclaimed book "Flat Earth News", Nick Davies published a shocking account of the scale of institutional racism at the Daily Mail: books.google.co.uk/books?id=U2E79…
Davies noted: "I have never come across a reporter from the Daily Mail who did not have some similar story, of black people being excluded from the paper because of their colour"

In 2016, the Daily Mail was called out for "fuelling prejudice" in a report on rising racist violence & hate crime: independent.co.uk/news/media/pre…
