In the early 1960s, Arab governments made a serious effort, including using Arab Christian churches, to lobby against Vatican II's then-impending decision to lift the charge of deicide against the Jews - an issue unrelated to Israel, and indeed in violation of Qur'anic doctrine.

It seems the Arab states had some success in getting the final statement of the Second Vatican Council watered down on the issue of lifting from the Jews the charge that they were collectively guilty of the murder of God.

The intervention of Arab states to try to have the Vatican retain the deicide charge against Jews, again, has no connection to Israel, and is all the more notable since the Qur'an explicitly says Jesus was not crucified, leading to remarkable ideological and polemical contortions
A notable theme in Arab official and media discourse, at various levels of explicitness, was that the Vatican dropping the deicide charge was a weak and dishonourable concession at a time when the Jews had just murdered one of their own, President Kennedy.
