The rise of these conspiracies through influencer/alternative income jobs is basically driven by the fact a ton of people (especially older educated folks and moms) desperately want flexible part-time and highly people-focused work.

The lack of FLEXIBLE AND HUMAN-FOCUSED WORK is creating a cultural crisis. We desperately need more jobs to be created which are 20 hours a week and a good fit for educated retirees or near-retirees and adults with childcare responsibilities.

Otherwise, these folks will find a grift. Sometimes the grift is makeup or obscure life insurance products.

Sometimes it's dangerous conspiracies that kill people.

Underemployed people are a danger to society. Classically political theorists look at unemployed fighting-age males as the risk. But in an information and social economy, we should consider the problem of underemployed well-educated people at home for other reasons.
