Want More Customers? Give Them Something To Talk About!

This is how brand positioning boosts your revenue.

Brand positioning is how your brand shows up in everything you do —

What you do, why you do it, and how you do it differently or better than others. All these would have your customer at the top of your mind.
You have to provide value to those you’re communicating to!

- Value gives your brand life.
- Value creates conversation,
- It gets your customers to stand up and tell stories about you, for you.

This is how we get THE IMPORTANT word-of-mouth marketing.
When people discover a new product, they’re immediately trying to figure out three things

1. What is this and how is it different/better than what I’m already buying?
2. How will this product/ service benefit me?
3. Do they get me?
Instead of telling your customer how great you are,

First acknowledge them.

Address their wants, needs, triggers, motivations.

Then demonstrate how your product or service is their best option and ideal solution.

That’s when POSITIONING is key!
The best brands are CLEAR, COHESIVE, CONSISTENT, and COMPELLING (The 4Cs).

* They explain;
What they do in the context of a specific industry

How they’re different or better than the competition

And how the end-user benefits from choosing them over a competitor
E.g Want to be known as the go-to copywriter on Twitter?

Showcase work you’re most proud of, on your portfolio

Share results in form of case studies using CAR (challenge-action-results)

Share with the world in a voice that isn’t predicated by a style guide, but is fully yours
This means practically and tactically;

You’ve got to have an ideal customer in mind. Understand their pain points, preferences, influences, and motivations.
To establish yourself as a voice in what you want to be known for, you have to be:

CLEAR - communicate what you do and point-of-view in a way that’s understandable.

COHESIVE - show up in every space you occupy with a similar vibe, look and feel.
COMPELLING Consider how you can stop people from scrolling with the words, thoughts, and visuals you put out into the world.

CONSISTENT

Building authority and trust takes time. People want to see you consistently providing value, which makes the decision to buy you.
When new leads come, they’re already warm and receptive.

It doesn’t take much to close the deal because they’ve seen what you can do, how you think, and how your work has already given them value before they run you your check.
