Rose petal, pomegranate and pistachio ice cream on the go ⁦@WasOnceLoved

About 500 ml of double cream (2/3rds) + milk (1/3rd) heated gently with the petals of clean (non sprayed) scented rose petals (Gertrude Jekyll today). Brought to below boil and switch off
Infuse for 30 mins

Meanwhile whip together 3 egg yolks and 100 gram of vanilla sugar.

When the cream/rose petal infusion has developed strain the cream into the egg and sugar mix and beat thoroughly.

Then make a custard in the usual way.

When coating the back of spoon, cool.
I’m guessing about 75 g of pistachios chopped (I usually toast a bit first) and about double pomegranate seeds.

I add these to the ice cream mix after I have put it into the custard into the ice cream churner bit by bit.
I then spend the rest of the summer perfecting a quick one with evaporated or condensed milk then forget to save the best version and start again each summer. Watch this space.

But the slow egg custard version is best.
I should have said 3 head of roses, petals removed for the infusion and checked carefully for bugs. None at all today!

Sometimes if the heads are smaller I use 4.

My favourite roses for this are Spirit of Freedom.
Oh my God.

It is INSANELY good.

Right first time!

2/. The 🇺🇸 FDA goes on specifying one breach after another, including misbranding

This is just page 1

3/ It gets worse. “The clinical performance estimates reported in the labelling of the ...devices are false and misleading as they do not accurately reflect the performance estimates observed during the clinical studies of your devices.

4/. Quality assurance poor. Image
Poor record keeping

Poor acceptance testing

Poor complaints procedure

On and on and on.

So 🇬🇧 Gov spends £billions on Innova Tests and deploys them in ways unsuited to purpose by the 🇺🇸 FDA standards.

🧵 from @julesmchamish showing some very sharp 7 day rises and some huge single day increases on 7 June alone with the prize going to Manchester with 256, but Glasgow, Edinburgh , Blackburn with Darwen, Birmingham, Leeds, Salford all with more than 100 cases on that day.
And another thread here from @julesmchamish concentrating on the new risers.

Have to say that Cornwall is taking a turn for the worse just when they have the G7 there, a cruise ship packed with police officers (not sure they have thought that through) and holiday makers.

PHE Whistleblower: Political Pressure ‘Watered-Down’ PHE Care Home Guidance Over COVID Testing – Byline Times

This sounds very precise. Signatures on the sign off.

I’m guessing someone has preserved the evidence so the current denials will backfire.…
PHE “whistle-blower confirmed that, in March 2020, PHE’s internal advice from clinical staff was to ensure that any patients newly discharged into care homes had to be tested for COVID-19.”...
“Public Health England’s original advice was that people shouldn’t be released from homes and hospitals without being tested to ensure they are not carrying the disease,” they said.”

The inexorable rise in cases continue

💉 451k vaccination doses.

It’s worth looking at cases by specimen date.

The last 3 weeks here. Remember the last few days are likely to have some cases added to them as they are processed

Even then over 7K on Monday

Bloody hell.
Oh Ho! There was more than one.

Covid contract for Public First run by Cummings friends was unlawful, judge rules

The total contracts value £564,393.

As if that was not bad enough the Gov dipped & weaved & refused to limit its costs which it put at £600k. OUR MONEY.…
So they were plain wrong and throw yet more of our hard earned cash at defending the indefensible.

The Good Law Project could not operate without the contributions (mostly pretty small) of its supporters.

Will you consider a regular subscription?
The @GoodLawProject acted responsibly, writing to Hancock making proposals to improve procurement and get better value for money for taxpayers -offering if that invitation was accepted, to drop the further procurement challenges to save public money

Mr Hancock did not respond
