Garland sad "we" (meaning the Justice Department before he was there) spent $48 million from civil unrest "during that period."

Braun is asking about the damage to the Capitol.

He asked about the DNI report from March identified "abortion-related violent extremists as a threat" said this was an attack on the "pro-life" community. Asked why BLM and Antifa weren't there.

61/
Garland said the leading threats were racially-motivated and ethnically-motivated violent extremists He said "I think the anti-abortion is an area," but he does not know where it is in the threat matrix.

62/
He said "the anarchists" you mentioned would fall into the anti-gov't part of report.

Hold on. Is BLM listed as an anarchist movement? I am getting the report for you right now.

Here it is.

Lemme look . . .

63/
Here's the chart in the report

64/
Sorry, while looking this up, I missed this Senator's questions, but heard him say, can't we tell people not to come here from the northern triangle countries.

65/
Here he was. I missed a bit more, but not much.

And, the hearing adjourned.

🧵Here we go! It's 2:02 p.m. Looks like Senator Sheehan is presiding. She thanked the AG for recovering the ransomware payments

It's a $36 billion budget request. Double resources on office of violence against women as a positive highlight.

But, she has "some concerns."

1/
Sheehan is the chair of the subcommittee. That is why she is presiding. She said there are modest increases to law enforcement, with one exception, the bureau of prisons. She's concerned as says BOP needs funds to help inmates with training and medical care, aging buildings.

2/
Thanked 115,000 employees of the DOJ for their work through Covid pandemic and response to January 6 attack. "I appreciate the ongoing investigation by the FBI into this event."

💯 It has been my dream to work in Washington, in the federal government. I believe I can make a difference. But, as recently as this week, a mentor said I am too vocal. That I need to tone it down. And I tried to censor myself — but that has lasted only for 24 hours.

1/
This window of time feels like death. And if landing and retaining a job requires taking my gloves off when I see injustice in the world, to paraphrase Mark Twain, the job can go to hell then.

2/
To say that I am deeply disappointed in Merrick Garland deciding to take Donald Trump‘s case against E. Jean Carroll is an understatement. It was not legally necessary or ethically correct. Moreover it reflects this country’s long history of racism and misogyny.

🧵 Pull up a chair. I'm spotting some customer abuse that may link to dodgy accounting

It all started this week when my dear friends told me John Legend canceled his concert planned for Tanglewood in August. They found out because the venue emailed them and promised refunds

1/
I purchased my ticket through a website called @ticketoffices and was billed via PayPal by a company called Ticket Fulfillment Services LP.

So, I went to the website and the chat confirmed that the concert was canceled but that I had to phone customer service. So I did.

2/
The phone call lasted nearly 30 minutes during I asked for a full refund and the rep placed me on hold twice so she could "investigate" the situation even after she confirmed it was canceled.

🧵 I have a theory about the content of part two of the 2019 memo to Barr on whether the Mueller report provided enough evidence to prosecute Trump fit obstruction. This is the part @TheJusticeDept is holding back.

1/
And though I would have preferred it being released and it’s entirety now, it’s complicated. Let’s walk through this.

2/
Before I do. I want to be clear, I’m not talking about the legal justification/argument for a stay pending appeal. That is set forth very clearly in the court documents.
