Critical theory is the theory that everything is a part of an oppressive power structure and it’s on you to identify how any institution, subject, object or person is oppressive—be it racist (critical race theory), sexist (gender theory), transphobic (queer theory) etc.
If you want to see the simplest and easiest example of critical theory, just read a woke movie review.
Video game reviewers all employ critical theory to write their reviews now. They don’t perceive these video games as toys or as mechanical structures that provide enjoyment but artistic expressions to be picked apart for their oppressiveness.

When I describe critical theory as a cancer I mean it in every sense of the word. Not only can things be sexist, racist etc., oppressions can be much more granular—like “transmisogynoir”(hatred against black trans people) and colorist (in-group bias against darker skinned blacks)
Transmisogynoir specifically refers to transphobia rooted in racism and sexism unique to black women. It isn’t regular old transphobia.
