7 THINGS YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN TODAYS LEGAL SPECTRUM.

Like many careers, law is another that demands a lot of hard work both at law school and outside law school.
You can hardly move a muscle and you don't meet a chump on the streets with a law degree, why?!

#Thread! #LawTalk
The following might be the difference between lawyers who earn and those who struggle.

This is not conclusive, you can also analyse the status quo, make your conclusions and add what you think is right, I will dearly appreciate.
#LawTalk
1. Mindset
Mindset is responsible for a great deal of the proportionality of our individual problems.

The difference between the top 1% and the bottom 99% in most fields can inter alia be attributed to mindset. You can solve your problems by a half if you fixed you mindset.
A career in law can not just be an exception. Whatever you form of the lifestyle as a lawyer, the money they earn and the respect they command might be different from what the status quo presents.

You just need to have a flexible mindset. Change and fix yourself to leverage.
2. Books
Lawyers are readers. Right from law school to the life after law school, you just can't stop reading.

A lawyer is called counsel for a unique reason; this is the person who provides counsel on various realms. You can't counsel on why you don't know.
Society has enormous challenges and many will seek legal counsel on many of them. It will be embarrassing if, as a lawyer, you can't help someone for the very simple reason that you don't know, why don't you know? Who do you think will know it, if not you? Read!
I must stress here and now, that the reading that I mean is not restricted to law and legal matters. Read about the most common issues; society, economy, crypto, un'employ't, feminism, etc. When you do, you will be astute and your clients will trust you, you will also attract.
3. Connections
I don't know how to stress this so that it can sink. You and your knowledge are useless if no one knows you.

People have negative perceptions about connections but the brutal truth is, you can't ignore or 'bad-brand' the notion of connections.
If you are that kind who loathes connections, you will have yourself to blame. As lawyers, our leverage is on the width of our clients base. Your clients are you survival in the spectrum, you client base is you connections.
I'm short, for a lawyer, Connections=Survival!
4. Income
If your only source of income is from the money you earn from your job at the Chambers, you will have a problem.

You will always think about how much a particular case will accrue to you and this thinking can potentially impede your performance. You don't want that.
Solve that problem ASAP. Invest in various places, have a wide stream of income. With this, you will do your job deligently without worry of the money you earn, this is because, you are already 'money'ed' from various sources.
When you do, your performance will be epic and every client you serve will not just come back, but will influence 2 or 3 more to come to seek you legal counsel. At this point, you will have built a wide client base, you will be connected!
5. Soft skills.
Here, I mean computer and IT skills. Look, the future is IT and you will be making a grave mistake if you ignore the contribution of computer literacy to your career, including a career in law. Get skilled, there are a lot of tutorials online to that effect.
6. Health
This is as important as the knowledge that you think you possess. Take care of you mental and physical wellbeing.

Medics will tell you that regular exercise and rest will fix both mental and physical wellbeing. You don't need to be persuaded to do this, do you?
7. Purpose
Your purpose, as a lawyer is to fix the society from the viewpoint of a legal personal, it's not to be rich or make lots of money. Money is a reward for solving problems, so solve as many problems as you can and money will chase you.
