Just the jackets alone are iconic discourse on inward-looking foreign policy and outward-looking policy.
Beware the pundits that spend hours talking unity and bipartisanship but write this moment off.

The Dept of Interior IG says in a report issued today that former President Donald Trump's photo op last June at St John's Church in DC was not the reason police cleared Lafayette Sq. IG: It was to allow a contractor to install antiscale fencing. Story soon for @CourthouseNews
I'll unwind and unpack the report in a story soon for @CourthouseNews
I don't think I've had a post of mine ratioed before! I'm not surprised it is this one. I appreciate skepticism about this report from readers (and that many comments are memes). There's quite a bit to be skeptical about in this report from ID IG Greenblatt.

ICYMI: The Senate failed to push the Paycheck Fairness Act forward last night. They held a procedural vote on the bill that would have allowed debate on it on the floor but that failed, 49-50.
In a year where more women have been pushed out of the labor force to caretake because of the pandemic, they now also will not see legislation that could close the gender pay gap, so maybe, when they do reenter the workforce, they arent paid less for the same work as men.

Update on infrastructure talks from @PressSec: Biden "has been clear that he has two red lines: he will not raise taxes on Americans who make under $400,000 and he will not accept inaction as the outcome." GOP didn't come up high enough for WH, ended up being roughly $700B apart
The next step, according to WH press secy Psaki, will be for Biden to work with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to reach compromise. Sen. Capito, who facilitated talks with Biden, expressed disappointment that Biden ended talks, but this isn't the end of the road necessarily.
Biden invited Capito to join the bipartisan working group & there are other infrastructure bills w/bipartisan support that have made it out committee already, including a $500B+ bill just for roads, bridges, safety, freight, public rails etc. known as the INVEST in America Act.

Biden to Congress regarding troop removal from Afghanistan: "Keeping thousands of troops concentrated on the ground in Afghanistan no longer makes sense as the most effective counterterrorism strategy when the threat has metastasized Across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia."
Biden cont.: "Our focus and posture need to adapt accordingly... The US will reorganize our counterterrorism capabilities and assets in the region to prevent the reemergence of a terrorist threat in Afghanistan. We will hold the Taliban and the Afghan government accountable...
Biden on drawdown of troops continued: "We will hold the Taliban and the Afghan government accountable to their commitments not to allow terrorists to threaten the United States or its allies from Afghan soil."
