What’s the scenario by which all the capacity expansions announced by SII and BB in April and gonna come online in July etc could’ve been advanced to January and be had the expanded capacity by April?
Large orders earlier? Mfg grant earlier? Cause clearly demand far outstrips
the supply not just for the Indian population but for the worldwide Covax alliance to which Poonawala has a contractual obligation of another Billion doses. And I’m not convinced by the argument in this article. swarajyamag.com/ideas/the-firs…
.@surajbrf has written a good data driven article laying out the terrain and the story abroad. But we have to adjust for the fact that Japan is not a host to any of the vaccine mfg but India is and Indian govt can push for additional mfg if it had the intent considering the needs
To me, some ppl comparing absolute vaccination numbers between smaller countries in the West to India is a dishonest assessment of where we are and where we should be in vaccination. Is our other essentials like food grains, power consumption etc compared in absolute terms? No.
We have two vaccine candidates from Jan and one with what makes us the largest vaccine manufacturer even before the pandemic. So considering our population and the existing players, scaling the mfg capacity adequately should’ve been the focus from day 1.
Apart from Ofcourse the fact that there is a billion doses of international commitments to be met. Whether upfront orders or upfront money grants or earlier identification and securing of supply chains for larger capacity… some or in all of these aspects we dropped the ball.
Not anticipating the deadly second wave or the need to inoculate rapidly a significant part of the population within the year to keep the country and economy open is probably where the govt went wrong. Maybe budget pressures and chorus of herd immunity played a role.

The history of LTTE, Eelam Tamil struggles are far too complex. Tamils who are Indian nationalists have come to accept this mixed history as multiple shades of grey. It'll never be a binary for us unlike either tamil nationalists or the rest of India.
There is absolutely no point either for the larger Indian nationalists who don't understand Eelam history or for the looney tamil nationalists to try to push us take a firm balck and white stand on them as either freedom fighters or as terrorists. It will always be complex for us
Assassinating our PM meant that they need to be eliminated. That's just the writ of the Indian state imposing itself and there can be no compromise. But that doesn't take away the legitimate struggle of the Tamils of the Northern province.

South Korea, a country with a massive and high quality ship building industrial base had the plan to progressively indigenise the Type -209 and within a decade started building its own sub with its own design modifications.

India, that didn’t have the industrial base, had to do
all this and apart from that had to take the extra effort to develop the shipbuilding mfg ecosystem from a low quality low output to a modern 21st century high quality thriving ecosystem. So it was a triple whammy for us in a sense. While have to be accelerating faster than peers
to catch up, we not only slowed down, by not having a plan to progressively indigenise but also stopped from running itself, by shunning what was to be learnt from the HDW. All this, while we were behind the starting point of So Ko in the first place in the 80s.

What is BIG about Rs 500 cr for 5 years for all startups ?!!

You can't remotely be serious about fostering these startups into good MSME product companies with good R&D with that amount!!

Total disconnect from costs involved in serious engineering product development!!
Considering that we lack the product and R&D base in the breadth and depth of most technological domains, there are additional costs involved in developing the labs, hard and software tools to work on design and development that is readily available in the West.
Some will be available COTS but they aren't gonna give for charity. The ugly truth of our startups and MSME companies is that they use cracked version of CAD and CAE engineering software to develop and validate their products cause they simply don't have the money to buy them.

Anthropologically clueless

Anthropological ignorance

Anthropological impossibility.
Some of his arguments

1. We got “AESA Ga As TRM technology” when we got the Phalcon
No we did not get.

2. Why did you want a French radar on the Rafale?
Right. Because the Uttam is at the same level of maturity as the RBE2 AA!! Development cycles be damned.
3. India is a pre-industrial nation

much as I do believe that India is yet to have a 21st century industrial base, to call it a pre-industrial nation incapable of precision engineering at all, is a hyperbole that comes out of a deep hatred for something else than actual reality.

Let me be as frank as possible @dhume. India and many other countries find global liberalism and certain forms of universalism as itself a form of conspiracy by developed countries to not allow us to organise, maintain order and grow peacefully. (1)
How much of inequitable virtues was the industrial revolution that made Europe was built on. It was built on colonisation & oppression of natives and plundering their natural resources. They had order & prosperity at home because they wrecked oppression & plunder abroad. (2)
With regards to America’s rise it is even more appealing. America, literally is a country of tax evading foreigners who came and destroyed native population and brought in slaves from Africa at historical levels to build a nation for 200 years. Americans systematically (3)
