The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them. — Albert Einstein
How to go to a new level of thinking #Template

• Go up a level of attraction or more
• Go Meta: Is this the problem I really want to be solving? The Real Problem? How can I reframe it?
• How was this TYPE of problem solved in another domain?
👇
• What are the limiting assumptions?
- - - - - - -
Creative exercises:

How was this solved in nature?
What would be an "impossible" solution?
How would a criminal solve it? How could I make that legal and ethical?
👇
• What's the bigger problem that's easier to solve that would solve this and other problems? (Bigger probs are often easier to solve: George Polya's "Inventor's Paradox." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inventor%…
• What's the simple solution that would reduce the problem?
• What would make the problem go away? (cease to be a problem, w/o solving it)
• How can we break it in order to fix it?
• What if we increased the problem?

Each of these is a gem, but you've got to give it time👇
Take each of these approaches and give your mind and/or your team time to mull over, associate, and find patterns. Sway with each of these approaches for hours & days, and keep coming back.

That's why Einstein was Einstein: He used his imagination as much as his knowledge.
YOU CAN TOO. Apply your imagination to each of the above questions.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." —Einstein
Want the world to be better problem-solvers and Imagineers (Disney's term)?

#Facilitating

When we are facilitating a group discussion, what are we actually facilitating?

Not just the flow of conversation. We are facilitating, or guiding, collaborative thought: The exchange of ideas to teach an agreed-upon goal.

So, set a goal through a question…
#facilitating

Ask: (Meeting Template)

• Why are we having this meeting?
• What would success look like? The desired outcome? What will we have that we didn't have before?
• What are we trying to explore, understand, generate ideas about, decide on?
• By what process, in what overall format?
• What ore we NOT trying to do? eg,, make a premature decision, resolve rather than understand a conflict, reach a compromise rather than a consensus, debate rather than explore, etc.
• What's the form of the collaboration process?👇

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. —Charles Darwin

This is a profound lesson that strong, intelligent people ignore at their peril.

The winners are the adaptable and the agile.

👇
Past a certain base level, strength and intelligence are relatively unimportant.

What you want to concentrate on, all MindSkills that are learnable:

Cleverness,
Creativity
Agility
Adaptability
Vision
Rational optimum
Calculated risk-taking (experimentation)
I remember once being in a situation where I was competing with AT&T in a particular service area (conference calls).

We ran circles around them with our agility and adaptability. We would think up and implement features in an hour when they took months to schedule a meeting.

Innovation is a foundational MindSkill.

How to be more innovative:

Start by asking, "How can I do this differently." Obvious, but how many people, teams and organizations ask this simple question?
Ask, "How can I make it bigger, smaller, simpler, faster, easier, …"

Improve your thinking — even if you are a genius

MAJOR MINDSKILLS THREAD

1/
How to Do the IMPOSSIBLE #TEMPLATE

◦ Find something that you really want to do, but seems impossible. Get in touch with your inner vision: the ability to “see” the invisible, what isn’t there yet, what isn’t even possible yet. 👇
2/
• Figure out what you want to do that is way beyond your realm of possibility.

◦ Realize that that’s just a problem: a situation in which you don’t yet know how to get what you want, starting from where you are and what you have.
👇
3/
◦ Let yourself go into WONDER as an adventure: I wonder why, I wonder how, I wonder if… Practice wondering about everything. Go see amazing things, like magicians and other astonishing performers. 👇
