• How to adopt a growth mindset.
• Life is bigger than a test score.
How to think, not what to think
I taught public school for 20 years. The system tells you what to think, not how to think.
(it's easier that way)
You will not achieve much in life by accepting what schools “teach” you because schools want you smart enough to follow orders.
Self-improvement is a good thing
Putting yourself first is often viewed as a selfish act in today’s society. But, it is the opposite.
You need to invest in yourself first before you can give to others. If you do not, you will have nothing to give. Improvement is a selfless act.
How to adopt a growth mindset
The Growth Mindset is the most powerful belief system. This is the idea that you can develop and improve your own abilities.
It will give you an advantage. Your confidence will improve because you will believe in the power of change.
Learn from your mistakes
Too often in schools, you get mocked for making mistakes. This should not be the case.
Education occurs through understanding. If you can understand the reason behind your mistakes. Growth will occur.
Life is bigger than a test score.
Getting good grades is nice. But that’s it. It’s nice. It’s not the end-all and be-all. It’s one metric.
Grades do not dictate your life.
Bonus lesson:
Create more than consume
Creators continually provide value to the world.
(therefore are continually rewarded)
The rewards come not only monetarily but spiritually.
1 Appreciate nature
2 Learn how to say NO
3 Adopt a growth mindset
4 Have high standards in life
5 Never take your family for granted
6 The optimistic are the most successful
7 It's okay to take a break...
1 Appreciate nature
Enjoy Nature. Go on a pointless walk. Soak in the sunshine. You were put on Planet Earth for a reason.
Enjoy your time here. Trust me.
2 Learn how to say NO
The moment you start saying yes to everything is the moment you live on others people's terms.
Stop letting others dictate your life.
Learn how to say no.
Make your life your priority.
1 You aren't owed anything
2 Money can buy happiness
3 No one cares more than you
4 Degrees do not give superpowers
5 You can’t be friends with everyone
6 Eat properly & you will lose weight
7 Earn more/spend less to be wealthy
That’s just how life goes
1 You aren't owed anything
People like to act like the world owes them something. It doesn't. You have to earn it. Take charge of your life and get what you want. There is nothing else to it.
2 Money can buy happiness
Money makes you financially secure and that leads to happiness. The biggest benefit is that you will sleep well at night. All tension will begin to melt away from life.
Stop listening to all of these hustlers that say money doesn’t = happiness. It can.
1. Be a lifelong learner 2. Embrace optimism 3. Have high standards 4. Focus on creative outputs 5. Spend time in nature 6. Accept responsibility 7. Embrace mistakes 8. Learn how to say NO 9. Stop caring what others think 10. Teach others what you know
1 Be a lifelong learner
Lifelong learners recognize the importance of personal development (and embrace the journey).
They are never satisfied. They always seek to improve. They never settle for just "knowing".
This is what keeps you youthful.
This is what sets you apart.
2 Embrace optimism
See the glass as half full instead of half empty.
Your mindset is a CHOICE
The most successful people I know are also the most optimistic. This is not a coincidence.
