My sister somehow convinced my father, who has spent the last 14 months isolated with not a single person under the age of 60, to take my niece and nephew to Dave & Buster’s.

Alone. By himself. Into the 4th ring of hell.

So now, in retaliation, my father has told the kids that they really really want to watch JAWS tonight — “it’s an excellent summer movie, I’ll tell you what.” 🦈 🎥

Ok so we are actually watching with Jaws with the kids

There is a pleasing amount of screaming

I am very glad I get to sleep in a different house tonight

As per usual the kids — definitely channeling their grandmother — are providing running commentary about how ludicrous the city council of sharkville is

Niece: 😱

Sister: this is a very tense movie. Are you sure you want to do this?

Niece: oh yes. But I may sleep with you tonight.

Nephew, watching Roy scheider research shark attacks: So I notice these pictures are getting progressively more gruesome.

Niece, as the boat boys prepare the final battle with the shark in the sinking boat: ok, I just need to say that this movie is totally biased because there are no girls doing any of the hero-ing or action.

NO ONE IS SLEEPING IN THIS HOUSE TONIGHT

Grandpa: you’re getting in the water?!?!?

GRANDPA!!!!!!!

Endnote: the kids are fine, they think these screams are hilarious and actually listening to the screams is making them laugh, which is ideal!

Also, every time I watch Jaws again — which is at least once a year — I remember what a great, great movie it is.
