FIRE UPDATE:

State Legislative Leaders and I have agreed to invest $100 million to combat and prevent wildfires, equip firefighters and communities with the resources they need, and prepare for after effects such as flooding and mudslides. 1/
This special session will ensure our state is ready to combat this season’s wildfires and address potentially deadly after effects. The Legislature will convene tomorrow and is expected to vote on the proposal later this week. 2/
While Arizona has strong wildfire suppression and prevention efforts in place, we need to do more. Our brave firefighters must have all the necessary tools, resources and support to fight the blazes and stay safe. 3/
We need to protect our communities from floods and other disasters that could result from these wildfires. Hard-hit communities and nonprofits offering support need financial assistance to weather the devastation of this wildfire season and protect families in need. 4/
We can get this done — and we can do it in an urgent, bipartisan manner. Thank you to Legislative leadership for coming together to develop an investment package that will help so many Arizonans. 5/5

This is bad policy, with no basis in public health. Even the Biden Administration has been more reasonable 1/
The vaccine works. But the vaccine is a choice. This policy is social engineering at its worst. Health policy should be based on science, not virtue signaling. In America, freedom wins. 2/
Public education is a public right, and taxpayers are paying for it. We need to make our public universities available for students to return to learning. In Arizona, we are going to have students in classrooms learning. 3/

Arizona is back to work!

Effective July 10th, Arizona will no longer be paying the $300/week federal supplement to unemployed workers, and instead we will be helping Arizonans get back to work. 1/
Return-To-Work Bonuses:

Arizona will set aside $300 million of federal resources to offer a one-time bonus of $2,000 to eligible individuals who return to the workforce and get a full-time job, while those who return part-time will receive $1,000. 2/
Education Incentives:

Arizona will provide $7.5 million for community college scholarships for currently unemployed workers who are eligible for Return-to-Work bonuses, and $6 million for GED test prep and exam fees for eligible workers without a high school diploma. 3/

Today, I’m proud to sign #SB1453 to allow community colleges to offer four-year degrees, paving the way for Arizona’s current and future workforces and expanding opportunities for populations that are historically underrepresented in higher education. @PaulDBoyer @beckynutt3 1/
Arizona’s community colleges play a critical role in supporting students of all ages and equipping our workforce with skills and resources. 2/
Arizona is a school choice state, and today’s action is school choice for higher education. This is 'Opportunity for All' in action. It will allow students even more opportunities as they strengthen their education and expand their employment opportunities. 3/

TODAY: I issued an Executive Order to meet surging job demand and support job creators throughout Arizona as employment opportunities grow and the #COVID19 vaccine is available for anyone who wants it. 1/
Today’s Order rescinds a March 2020 Executive Order that waived the requirement that an individual receiving employment benefits must be actively looking for work in order to receive the benefits. 2/
A year out from the start of the pandemic, jobs & vaccines are readily available. Arizonans are ready to get back to work. Our economy is booming, jobs need filling, more than 2M Arizonans are fully vaccinated, & vaccination appointments are available to anyone who wants one. 3/

ANNOUNCEMENT: Getting kids back in the classroom is one of the most important things we can do as we see #COVID19 cases drop and vaccinations underway. 1/
A majority of Arizona public schools are already open, and school leaders have demonstrated in-person instruction is possible to do safely. 2/
The @CDCgov has laid out a path for every school to open safely. Public health experts nationally have spoken about the importance of getting kids back in school. 3/

I am extremely disappointed in the Administration’s decision to cease progress on Arizona’s Resolution Copper Project, which is set to grow jobs and is estimated to create a direct and indirect economic impact of more than $1 billion to Arizona’s economy every year. 1/
An effective & predictable regulatory environment is a key factor in Arizona’s booming economy. In AZ, we follow what works. Undoing lengthy, comprehensive, & already-completed federal environmental studies on a whim with the changing of federal administrations doesn’t work. 2/
This type of activity threatens an untold number of major projects in Arizona and around the country. I am calling on the @USDA to reissue these crucial documents in a timely manner and continue progress on this job-creating project. 3/
