we are contemplating a dog sometime in the not so distant future and i admitted to friends tonight the truth in my heart which is that i think i could be a person who knows and cares greatly for a poodle
now haunting standard poodle rescue sites, pls tell me if you see a good one who needs a home
trying to resist the siren call but like maria callas i cannot
honestly tho i change my mind every day...the other day i fell so in love with a staffie on a rescue site that when it turned out he was already adopted i felt blue for hours
now i simply cannot stop thinking about this lil poodle up for rescue named STEPHEN SONDHEIM

speaking of woolf i just started a reread of one of my favorite books of all time, to the river by olivia laing -- a walk along the length of the ouse river that is part heartbreak memoir, part biography (of virginia and leonard), part naturalist reverie, part travelogue Image
it's a strange unclassifiable book, like all the best ones are, and I read it every few years around spring because it has the most evocative descriptions of being outside, and because it is a book that guides you out of winter places and into the sun
olivia has a new book out on may 4, which i am excited to read (link below)! but this one is her first, and i have recommended it to more people than i can count amazon.com/dp/B08L5NJNPY/…
