A story of how YOU helped a girl pay her 2nd year fees for her Computer Science engineering degree.

A thread...
2 weeks back I got an email from Anjali.

Anjali is a Computer Science Engineering student at a top engineering college in Bangalore (not naming it to protect her identity)

She topped her college in the first year.
However, COVID affected her family's financial condition.
She wrote, asking for help.

She shared her grades, the fee schedule, and all other details, in an email that was professional and heartwarming, at the same time.

Her 2nd year fees is 1.35L, due July 4th.
I asked her if she could afford to pay any of it on her own

Her reply signaled the extent of her family's condition.
So I decided to run an experiment.

Last Friday, for my weekly threads, I ran an affiliate campaign.

I consciously did not brand this as a crowdfunding exercise, because then the results would be biased.

Since these were products that have improved my life, I wanted others to experience them as well.

So I ran a giveaway on them (totaling ~Rs. 60,000)
Over the past 4 days, because of the sales YOU have made, the affiliate revenue generated is upwards of Rs. 93,000.
So this simple thread served 3 purposes

1. It raised Rs. 93,000 towards Anjali's education (I will be filling in the rest, gladly so)

She doesn't know as yet - I am to tell her this evening :))
2. I had the joy of gifting my favorites purchases, to others (results to be announced in 2 weeks)

And through that, introduce these lovely products to so many others, who bought it on their own.
3. I was hopefully able to show you the power of affiliate marketing.

To all those 20yr olds looking for passive income - this is it.

Go out there and create a trust-first community.
Anjali is happy.

You all contributed to your happiness, while buying something you would benefit from.
So I am hoping you are happy.

I am immensely happy.

Such a wonderful life :))

Several months back, I got one of the most powerful and gripping cold emails I have ever got.

The sender was Shuja, a rapper!

3 days back, he outdid himself...
He recorded a rap song for me.
The rap is on my life and I am blown away by his talent and his ability to get attention the right away.

linkedin.com/posts/shuja-ha…
I asked him how I could help
He wanted to sell the rights to the song.
I have asked him to make it into an NFT and I will buy that.
So he is figuring how to do that!

I am excited for Shuja and everyone like him - who doesn't follow a set path.
Instead creates one for themselves!

12 of my favorite purchases in the last 12 months

My breakfast everyday is a fruit, greens and nuts smoothie.
After using a traditional mixer, we moved to a NutriBullet Smoothie maker.

My mornings are so joyous now :))

I ordered a lamp for my office and instead of going for a traditional LED bulb, my friend suggested a Smart bulb.

I now have thousands of colors to chose from, brightness and contrast settings, all of which is managed through an app!

Love the feel

Tuesday's with Morrie

I chanced upon this book in 1st yr of college and I am so glad I did. It gave me a perspective that I hadn't had until then, about the significance of life.

The Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck

So much of our 20s are spent in caring about what others think of us. This book changed and challenged so many views around that. While I read this book in my last 30s, I wish it was there when I was young!

10 Investment Mistakes I made

A thread...
1. Tried to time the market

When the stock market was rising, I waited for it to fall (but it kept rising).
When the market was falling, I kept buying thinking this is the bottom (but it kept falling).

More than money, I lost my peace!
Keep investing in a disciplined fashion.
Same date, every month, with your regular income.
And whenever you get a lumpsum.
Over a long term, everything balances out.

10 reasons we get scared in life

A thread...
1. We get scared in life because we do not know for sure how we got, where we have got in life.

So we do not know how to get it again, if we lose it.

“I want to join this mediocre MBA school, because I am scared I won’t get in anywhere else.”
“I want to say yes to this toxic relationship, because I am scared I won’t get it again.”

“I want to say yes to this shitty job, because I am scared I won’t one again.”

Make the effort to understand what got you to where you are. Even if you got there by luck.
