This piece from @ThePlumLineGS gets at something important - Ds cannot repeat the mistake of 2009, and must spend a great deal of time and money making clear to voters how what we've done has made the recovery happen.

We need to get much louder about our economic achievements.

Let me give you an example of getting louder on the economy -

Joe Biden has created more jobs in 4 months than the last three Republican Presidents did in 16 years.

If there is a single graph which could sum up all of American politics over the past 30 years, this one, below, may be it.

With Dems lots of jobs, repeated success. With Rs no jobs, repeated failure.

Have appreciated the interest in our new econ graph below, one that shows that in just 4 months Biden has already seen more jobs created on his watch than the last 3 GOP Presidents combined, over 16 years.

So gonna share a few more graphs.....(1/x)

Here's one showing booming stock market gains under Clinton and Obama, only modest/zero gains under recent GOP Presidents (2/x). Using the Dow here.
Here's one showing average job gains per month. Note that over 16 years GOP Presidents AVERAGED only 10,000 jobs created per month, 120k per year.

Biden is averaging averaging 500k a month, which = 4-5 years of recent GOP per month (3/x).

This point is critical, and needs to be fleshed out by center-left commentators.

Despite repeatedly winning more votes in national elections small state bias makes it hard for Dems to wield Congressional power; when they do they have to get to 60 (1/x).

Rs exploitation of some of our democracy's design flaws has meant despite regularly losing popular vote GOP has been able to block sensible progress on climate, infrastructure, guns, immigration, etc.

Opportunity costs for US so immense (2/x).

Critical that we establish GOP's radicalization extends to entire governing agenda - taxes, climate, infrastructure, guns, COVID, race, immigration - not just democracy.

Their views are all extreme, and have been holding nation back for decades. (3/x).

Appreciate the always insightful @ThePlumLineGS citing my work around the need for the GOP to start finding "off-ramps,"and begin a purposeful de-radicalization effort from MAGA.....(1/x)
While it is my hope the Rs begin to walk away from MAGA and its mad leader, if they don't Democrats need to use the opening this savage attack we are seeing on our democracy gives us w/R voters to label rest of agenda just as crazy.
As I write in this piece, opening Dems have now is to label R positions on the economy, climate, guns, health care, race, etc just as radical and dangerous as its position on our democracy itself. (3/x)

The GOP's abandonment of its Lincoln and Reagan roots and going full-on authoritarian MAGA can't be understood as a normal political moment in American history.

MAGA is an extremist movement at odds with American/Western democracy.

It's a dark moment.
From the 2017 IC Russia Report: support of Trump was part of ongoing effort "to undermine the US-led liberal democratic order…. Russia’s goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process.”

Alignment of MAGA w/Putin's global agenda needs to be talked about.
COVID may have come from China, but MAGA/America First is a ideological virus which came from Russia, and one that may end up doing more harm to America and the West than COVID itself.

With the Brazilian variant ravaging South America, Colombia seeing COVID related unrest, AMLO playing vaccine games with the Russians, it’s time now for the US to launch a major effort to defeat COVID in the Americas.

All those so concerned about flows of migrants to the border should be calling for a comprehensive plan to defeat COVID and build back better in the Americas.

Economic and societal stress to our South will drive migrants North.

The increased flow of single young Mexican men to the border was a canary in a coal mine. The ravages of COVID were beginning to drive migrants North.

The last few days has seen something ugly emerge in Colombia. It's another sign of a region in duress.
