But there are signs that willingness to consider violence as an alternative hasn't abated since Jan. 6.

My reporter's notebook for this piece: During lunch break for the "Voter Integrity Bootcamp," presenter Jay DeLancy told me: "They don't like you." Members of the "host committee" for the training wanted me to leave. DeLancy said they mentioned a story I wrote about "Muslims."

Based on recognizing 1 individual from a previous assignment, I surmise that the story they didn't like was about a 2017 meeting in which a Winston-Salem, NC man expressed the desire to kill Muslims, & others identified area mosques & prominent Muslims. triad-city-beat.com/local-conserva…

As a compromise, I was allowed to stay for the next session, but then I would have to leave.

Even knowing a reporter was in the room, a woman concerned about purported voter fraud felt comfortable saying, "I have a real fear that there’s going to be civil unrest.... I’m done."

DeLancy, the director of Voter Integrity Project, responded, "It's a question of the ballot box or the ammo box." (I think he was trying to say that without processes for ensuring public confidence in elections, people will resort to violence to settle political differences.)

The woman interjected: "I have plenty of ammo." DeLancy talked her down (kind of): “Honey, you don’t have enough.... There’s not enough ammo on this planet for what you’re talking about. Just saying. So, calm down.” #ElectionViolence
