Satya Nadella was just named Chairman of Microsft's Board.

Since Nadella took over the CEO role from Steve Ballmer in Feb 2014, $MSFT has added more than $1.6T to its market cap.

Even with the gains, his net worth is only $800m.

Lesson: You don't get rich being an employee. Image
FFS people, this is joke.

Although, he *would* be way richer if he just invested in BTC in 2014.
Anyways, here's a hysterical video of Ballmer

In 2018, Alex Cooper launched "Call Her Daddy" on Barstool with only $70k in guaranteed money. 3 years later, she closed a $60m deal with Spotify.

Every creator should study her story. Fortunately, Dave Portnoy has laid it all out in 2 separate podcasts.

Here's a breakdown 🧵 ImageImage
1/ FYI: "Call Her Daddy" is a female-led podcast that covers sex, culture, relationships etc.

It launched in 2018 on Barstool w/ 2 hosts (Alex, Sofia). They split in 2020.

Cooper took the show to #5 most-streamed on Spotify and just signed a 3yr/$60m deal with the streamer. Image

Alex Cooper's original "Call Her Daddy" deal with Barstool in 2018 was a base of $70k (+ ~5% of merch)

She cleared $500k+ that year.

Her new Spotify deal is $20m a year for 3 years. Damn!
Barstool just rockets careers.

Check this story I wrote in March about how Barstool and the hockey pod "Spittin' Chiclets" built a $100m+ alcohol brand: thehustle.co/pink-whitney-s…
Portnoy: “This is the nature of the beast. You sign someone unknown, she explodes. It’s not different than an athlete contract.”

Cristiano Ronaldo told people to “drink water” instead of Coke at a presser.

$KO is down.
*blah blah blah* “the whole market is down”

Quit ruining my narrative: insider.com/cristiano-rona…
Could Ronaldo removing the bottles of Coke be a marketing ploy (prob not LOL).

BUT, some people think the disastrous launch to New Coke in the 80s *was* a marketing ploy to drive interest in Classic Coca-Cola:

Been rounding up Reddit posts that reveal "industry secrets". Here are some great ones 🧵

1/ Live Events

"At any concert you attend, the best sound will be directly in front of the engineer at the main soundboard."
2/ Book Writing

"It costs about $200k to put your own book on the top of the NY Times Bestseller List. All you have to do is buy a lot of copies yourself."
3/ Casino

"I'm not in the casino industry, but I am in the fire service: Casinos pump an extra 1% of oxygen into the air to make you more alert and give you more energy. You stay longer and spend more money. It's also why casino fires are so catastrophic."

◻️Zoom: $100m @ IPO —> ~$300m exit (3x)
◻️Snowflake: $250m @ IPO, position is ~$750m (3x)
◻️ Auth0: $120m investment —> $408m w/ sale to Okta (3.4x)

• nCino
• Dropbox
• Tanium
Startups love Salesforce Ventures cause they don’t block deals and don’t take a board seat
