The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has reviewed their advice on the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. They recommend that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is the preferred vaccine for people aged under 60 years, based on reassessment of the risks and benefits.
People under 60 years who have already received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine with no serious adverse events can continue to be given their second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine at the appropriate time.
People aged 50 to 59 will be eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine through our NSW Health vaccination clinics.
