In May 2020 the brand ranking of idols produced by the Korean Business Research Institute made an error calculating j-hope's br for their monthly chart. (1/18)

Instead of apologising and correcting their error when it was questioned by j-hope stans the CEO @/kooceo threatened to remove him from the list completely as a punishment for fans questioning his methodology and results. (2/18)

The br of idols chart has had many inconsistencies and errors and the company has refused to be open about their methodology - how they collect the data, what data they collect, why they collect that data and not others, (3/18)

how they weight the data and why – any reputable statistics company would welcome their data being scrutinised so as to continuously show their data is worthwhile and a true indication of what they claim it to be, (4/18)

however the KBRI has consistently reacted in an adversarial way whenever anyone has questioned their methods and asked for more information. (5/18)

With some investigation fans found out the company KBRI is run by a man who has a very sketchy history – he was a well known member of the far right online community Ilbe (Ilbe members are infamous for being anti-Gwangju). (6/18)

Korean j-hope stans and most j-hope fanbases decided to boycott the idols br chart since no organisation that threatens j-hope (or any member) should be supported in any way. (7/18)

A lot of the greater fandom joined the boycott sadly though not all: too many big OT7 accounts still post about it. Despite this boycott helping to improve j-hope's metrics and increase his media footprint is still important and hugely beneficial for his career. (8/18)

We want people who have never heard of him to always see the best quality results when they search for him on Google or YouTube, and to see his music not some other artist's when they do. Doing regular searches for j-hope on Google, YouTube, Naver, etc , (9/18)

all while using the correct form of his name, j-hope, making appropriate sns posts (eg:positive posts appreciating his talents), making blogs for him Naver, using his hashtags on all appropriate sns posts (Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Naver blogs, etc), (10/18)

supporting articles related to him by opening them, liking on Naver and Daum and sharing them, if allowed commenting and engaging with articles related to him, taking part in polls voting for him, requesting for his music to be played by radio stations via sns or polls, (11/18)

liking, sharing/reposting and commenting/engaging with posts on sns related to him all while using his hashtags and j-hope – all these things help his overall brand ranking, (12/18)

give him better metrics and quality associations to his name all of which helps his career by empowering him even if it doesn't end up making much a of a difference on the questionable and unreliable Korean charts - . (13/18)

Just as streaming his music on Spotify and YouTube and shazaming his music all help his career both as a soloist and a member of BTS so too do all brand ranking activities. As fans we all have different things we are able to do to help at varying levels, (14/18)

but some of the activities that help brand ranking can take just a couple of minutes out of your day, but they all contribute to helping j-hope immensely. He gives us all so much happiness and help through all our day to day lives, (15/18)

taking a few minutes a day to do a few easy activities to help him in some way however small it may be in isolation, combined with all other Hobi stans similar activities helps him HUGELY. You don't have to do everything, (16/18)

but there are plenty of different ways to choose from that fits everyone's different lifestyles. Please use his hashtags, search correctly for him, engage with articles and make blogs, comment on reactors and videos about him, use the correct form of his name, (17/18)
