Frustrating to hear @LeoVaradkar say that much of the concern re ownership and governance of #NationalMaternityHospital is ideological in nature.

It simply isn’t. The are serious human rights concerns arising from possible religious control of the hospital #MakeNMHOurs
Access without discrimination to a full range of reproductive health services is not an ideological issue, it is a human rights issue. The Government he is part of, and the one he previously led, have legally binding human rights obligations in that regard. #MakeNMHOurs
Despite all the concerns raised over many years no clarity has been given on question of ownership and control of this hospital

We wrote to @SimonHarrisTD in May 2017 flagging serious concerns about how Vatican could legally take control of all assets owned by Sisters of Charity Image
Ownership and control of governance in the long term are key issues. For example, who will appoint the board of SVH Holdings? The detail of that has been redacted from the constitution of the new holding company published by SVH Group.

To be clear, I have no issue at all with people promoting or holding an ideology.

But human rights, as in the legal framework, are non-ideological. They are accepted laws and norms developed by states, including Ireland.
Too often political leaders and states seek to sidestep their clear legal obligations in this regard by dismissing established legal norms and rights are ‘ideological’ or somehow contested.

This despite the fact that they agreed the treaties, then signed and ratified them.
Bear in mind too, that the treaties and conventions set out minimum standards, many of which were agreed many decades ago.

And yet too often politicians dismiss them as impractical, or as purely aspirational.

Minimum standards.
When human rights orgs demand that govs and states meet their obligations, we are simply saying that they should respect and abide by the laws they created and voluntarily agreed to be bound by.

To at least meet the minimum standards they themselves set.

Whoop!

That’s our girl.

❤️👏❤️ Image
Her delight is somewhat tempered by the fact that she has to wait two weeks to get a public services card so she can then apply for her full licence which will take yet another two weeks.
Remember the days when you could tear up your L plates once you passed your test?

That happy little ritual is long gone.

Day 1 of our lockdown sourdough adventure. Very little to it today. All you need is 100g wholewheat flour & 50ml bottled, untreated or boiled and cooled water. #coronacooking
Mix the flour & water to a paste and put it into your kilner jar. Leave the lid slightly open. Put it somewhere warm, I wrap mine in a blanket to get it really cozy, and leave it for 24 hours. That’s it for today. See you tomorrow! #coronacooking #sourdough
You use Wholemeal to get the starter going, only on the first day. If you have rye flour use that. Lots of people say to use rye on the first day, but I used Wholemeal. From tomorrow on, we will be using strong white flour.

Another Irish psychotherapist (not this person) was in conversation with people on here last week about how the efforts of paedophile groups hiding “at the heart of the LGB (sic) community in the UK in the 90’s”. Comparing that with trans activism now. Hideous.
Yet another Irish therapist has been sharing links to Graham Linehan’s blog. A site which spews abuse at people. A guy barred from Twitter for bile. Not great is it?

As promised last night - a game changing pizza recipe and cooking method for you today. I made this last night and it was so good I used the last of the dough to make another today for brunch! Chorizo, Roast Butternut Squash and Spring Onion Pizza. This is sublime! #coronacooking
I’ve reworked my dough recipe just a little for this, and I really like it. The crust is wonderful. Ideally use strong white flour. I didn’t have any on this occasion so I used plain flour and it worked really well.
For the dough:
475g strong white flour
7g quick active yeast
25ml olive oil
50ml lukewarm milk
275ml lukewarm water
2tsp salt
1tsp sugar

For the sauce:
300g cherry tomatoes
1tbsp tomato purée
1 shallot
1 clove garlic
A little olive oil
1tbsp honey
Salt & pepper

New Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings recipe. Best made in an air fryer - wings are amazing cooked that way. But these can also be baked in an oven. Made with ginger, garlic, lemon, lime, red chilli & honey. Yum. #coronacooking ImageImageImage
Ingredients
1kg chicken wings
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tbsp cornflour
Salt & Pepper
20g butter
Juice of 1 lime & 1 1/2 lemons
3 garlic cloves
1 tbsp grated ginger
2 red chillis
3 tbsp runny honey
#coronacooking
Serve with chopped spring onions & toasted sesame seeds. I made a dip from nonfat Greek yoghurt & pesto which was great with these. I got wings in @Aldi_Ireland They do 1kg packs of wing portions which are handy. If you buy whole wings, portion them down & discard the wing tips.
