Canada has been warned about China and their compromising tactics a long time ago.
Richard Fadden caused quite the scandal 11 years ago when he informed the public that several politicians in municipal & provincial govts were suspected of working to advance CCP interests.
Guess it wasn’t such a good idea for Harper CPC to cut RCMP budgets by 20% in 2011-2012. Or Prosecution capacity to (PPSC) either. That’s SNC-Lavelin and Chinese triad corruption that has escaped justice due to Jordan’s principle (2 year max trial date) and depleted capacity.
Sure would like to know why CPC and NDP seem desperate to get at those Winnipeg Lab documents.
It’s not like several issues have emerged that make China, CCP and Chinese triads an identified national security threat that is influencing Canadian economy negatively.
So much that the millennial generation can’t seem to get ahead and are left in poverty with McJobs in perpetuity. Regardless of their education levels.
Vancouver and Toronto being the worst hit jurisdictions by far, but impacting an entire generation of Canadians.
And now the Parliamentary Committee investigating China and Canada Relations is demanding documents be released unredacted for a Law Clerk to determine national security, asset safety and exclude criminal investigation concerns from redaction.
Seems reasonable right?
Read for yourself. Here are the committee minutes split by partisan vote. Conservatives leading the charge. Bloc & NDP providing the majority.
It’s not the whole committee, it’s opposition members of the committee that are demanding access.
Weird huh? Why does opposition want to see documents including reference to any current criminal investigations?
Weird that US intelligence has been investigating and assisting with surveillance. Meaning additional budget allocation for RCMP-CSIS intelligence isn’t required.
And criminal investigation is excluded specifically from being redacted.
Very interesting indeed.
It’s all speculation of course, but it seems odd that three opposition parties want to know the details about any related criminal investigations. Not just the Winnipeg Lab.
We have an ad his committee created by opposition to investigate Canada China relations under the presumption that something is wrong with the government’s foreign policy and management of Chinese CCP aggression.
Through the fateful influence of the promotion of “Vote Your Conscience” strategy of left opposition parties, the LPC is a minority government and no longer holds the majority votes on committees.
And now opposition wants intel on criminal investigations related to China.
There sure are a lot of random dots aligning in a pattern. But it’s too early to assess what’s happening accurately.
It’s not like conservatives in other nations similar to Canada have had foreign agents that infiltrated government (Gen. Flynn, R. Giuliani, E. Chao, J. Kushner).
Or developed scandals meant to harm their main competition’s electoral chances (Ukraine Biden scandal). Or shut down criminal investigations by releasing cherry picked misleading information and presenting false summaries (Bill Barr).
Or placed complicit loyalists on Congressional and Senate Committees investigating Russian adversarial active measures and criminal espionage and undermine those investigations (Nunes, Cruz, Grassley, Burr).
Even if there are a few similarities, it’s all pure speculation at this point. The public won’t know what all the fuss is about until the government addresses the Committee’s demand. The speaker of the House has heard arguments. He will render his decision after consideration.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General will appeal to the judicial branch to rule on whether an ad hoc HOC committee has absolute power to demand and receive sensitive documents that could compromise national security, foreign relations, asset identities or criminal investigation.
All we can do is pop some corn and sit back and watch the show.
Stay aware of this issue. Opposition is spinning wildly to make this appear like government is not complying. They are attempting to vilify PHAC’s top Public Servant, the guy who helped LPC manage covid.
That’s another similarity. Ian Stewart is a career public servant. Not a politician. Dragged into committee to testify and given a command by HOC ad hoc committee to hand over sensitive documents. And treated like a petulant child by committee members who didn’t get their way.
Some want him sanctioned harshly to deter any other public servant from questioning whom to serve: the nation, the government or unprecedented HOC committee demands (Lt. Col. Vindman, Amb. Yovanovitch).
Who has been angling for an election for months? Who has been making false accusation after false accusation? Who has been manufacturing scandals to tarnish reputations?
More evidence of the outright attack on the most vulnerable.
How many more vulnerable people need to die or suffer greatly before those with privilege stand up to this ideological and corrupt punishing government?
Indigenous communities who’ve partnered with UPC may want to reconsider their decision in light of these and other troubling statistics and UCP policies.
Moral judgement has no place in healthcare policies.
Many are dying because of ideological belief.
Many of us predicted this would be the outcome of ideological policy design and systemic bias towards people affected by substance abuse. To deafened ears.
Continued support of this policy is an abrogation of science and fact.
It’s frustrating when people who don’t understand the implications of policy make demands for policy decisions. Especially about sensitive issues like migration and Temporary migrant workers.
It often incurs accusations of racism & xenophobia.
We must retain the right and agency to discuss migration without the fear of being accused of being a racist if we disagree with a call to provide every immigrant instant right & citizenship upon crossing the border into Canada.
Cancel culture is only effective if we allow it.
Some people may want open borders and global citizenship, but it is the taxpayers of Canada who are responsible for citizens of Canada. Not other taxpayers.
It’s a lie to state new immigrants do not have rights. All citizens, permanent residents & students have rights.
It’s abundantly obvious that basic logic has been replaced by demagogic rationale in some left wing factions.
It’s obvious where it’s originating. Which is why ethical leadership is so crucial to a social movement.
When you demand allegiance to an ideal, refuse to consider other perspectives and assign enemy status to those who refuse to adopt your worldview, you’ve crossed over into extremism.
If you can’t recognize your behaviour and rationalizations are the same as religious fundamentalists who use terrorism and bombs, or fascists who commit random acts of violence with weapons, you’ve become a radicalized extremist.
I completely understand the desire to segregate. Since the people who continue to work towards genocide look exactly the same as those who are allies, it’s frightening to trust anyone.
But there are good people in the world.
I married one. I have friends from other cultures and ethnicities and I want the freedom to be me anywhere, not just safe enclaves.
I understand the desire to keep kids away from negative influences. Self esteem is developed when you’re young.
Thank god we do NOT have Proportional Representation or we might be subjected to increased levels of nuttiness blaming an electoral system for internal party politics exploding into public view.
Are you trying to campaign for your lame party or recruit Q’Anon crazies?
Who ever heard of the inability to have representation for fringe groups being the cause of fringe group infighting?
