This idea that you should not do isolation work until you can do compound exercises is completely backwards

You get stronger much faster and build joint strength by using isolation exercises

Bicep curls increase grip strength, pushdowns improve pressing strength...1/3
shoulder raises will strengthen the shoulder joint and improve shoulder pressing

Its ridiculous to neglect all these gains and beat your head against the wall while you struggle with pullups and dips

You're weak at those exercises because you lack...2/3
MUSCLE, so use isolation exercises to help build it and you'll get to your goal much faster

The "just do compound exercises" idea was stupid 10 years ago, and its stupid today

Why it still exists, I do not know
