1. TW are women. No females needed. 2. Females are the second sex and not equal moral beings. Their human rights and personhood do not count. Even in discussions regarding their own female categories.
@BBCRadio4 Feminist political and moral philosophy argues females are excluded from androcentric citizenship which centres the interests of males. This is a perfect example. Females are demoted within their sports categories and not even included in eligibility discussions. Androcentric.
This is what female Olympians think. Women's political and moral voices matter. Particularly those whose interests are affected by decisions made without them:
Delighted that my research article 'Female Olympians’ voices: Female sports categories and International Olympic Committee Transgender guidelines' is just published in the International Review for the Sociology of Sport:
I would like to thank nineteen female Olympic athletes for taking the time to generously contribute
to this research since without them this work would not have been possible.
'These Olympians agreed with the IOC’s overarching fairness principle but, in common with some ex-elite transwomen athletes, did not think evidence regarding
male advantage mitigation via testosterone suppression supports IOC 2015 transgender
guidelines.'
Maybe not a disaster as apparently this phrase comes from Bostock ruling and:
'As this passage makes perfectly clear, Bostock does not apply to any of the contexts or other statutes where a conflict with women’s sex-based protections might arise.'
Title VII prohibits employment discrimination based on race, colour, religion, sex and national origin. I agree with prohibiting employment discrimination against lesbian gay and trans people. What I'm uneasy about is the conflation of sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
However, hoping this is the equivalent of the British Equality Acts protected characteristics of sexual orientation and gender reassignment.
This is an equal treatment version of justice where the embodied reality of the female sex is invisible. Women are judged against the male standard and found wanting. Real justice for females would mean equal opportunity or equal outcome in terms of inclusion not distance.
There appear to be misunderstandings. The Mayor's office was provided with details of attendees on 3 Feb, 1week prior to this meeting. This included academic, legal expertise, LP status and additional allegences including the LGB Alliance for one academic.
Additional allegences also disclosed to the Mayor's Office 1 week prior to the meeting was membership of the Manchester Feminist Network.
Neither of these two declared allegences resulted in cancellation of the meeting by the Mayor and why would they?
The meeting with Andy Burnham to discuss girls and women's rights as they currently exist and the concerns regarding the effect of self ID on these, was requested by me in July 2019 in this open letter:
