To argue US breaks laws, Beinart in NYT—unwittingly—cited UN's 2 most evil reps:

1. Idriss Jazairy—ex-Algerian diplomat, drafted UN resolution to muzzle experts, took $50K from Russia then did report against sanctions on Russia.

2. Alfred de Zayas—hero to Holocaust deniers.

Beinart cites Jazairy as a "current U.N. special rapporteur." But he's been dead since February 2020. Doesn't @nytimes check facts?

Far worse, Beinart is citing as an authority someone who has been a lifelong enemy of human rights and an apologist for murderous regimes: ⤵️

Ex-Algerian ambassador Idriss Jazairy, one of @PeterBeinart's two top U.N. authorities on international law, received a $50,000 donation from Russia as his annual U.N. report declared Vladimir Putin a victim of Western sanctions.

Beinart's esteemed U.N. human rights authority was a tool of genocidal murderers like Assad's Syria, whose state media hailed Jazairy for saying that U.S. & EU sanctions on the murderous Assad regime "violate human rights."

Jazairy was specifically appointed by the UNHRC to a Cuban-created post to attack Western sanctions on dictators. He described the world's worst regimes—Syria, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Qatar, Russia, Sudan, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Yemen & Syria—as victims. unwatch.org/category/peopl…
As Algerian ambassador, Jazairy famously and repeatedly stated that antisemitism targets Arabs and Muslims.

At an April 22, 2008 UN racism meeting, he said “Antisemitism targets Arabs, who are also Semites, and by extension, the whole Muslim community.”

The second U.N. human rights authority cited by Beinart is Alfred de Zayas — a hero to Holocaust deniers. His publications and lectures are promoted on websites such as "Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust."

Alfred de Zayas abused his U.N. human rights post to serve as a shameless apologist for murderous dictatorships like Maduro's Venezuela, which arranged for him to be the only U.N. human rights expert allowed to visit. His report was pro-Maduro propaganda.
On his visit, Beinart's U.N. authority de Zayas posted photos portraying Venezuela as overflowing with food—when in fact millions are suffering from hunger.

Shame on @UNESCO for honoring the murderer Che Guevara. He led firing squads.

In 2013, UNESCO enshrined “The Life and Works of Ernesto Che Guevara”—even though President Obama’s ambassador urged UNESCO to “not be used as a tool to glorify and legitimize violence.” Image
And @UNESCO_es's tweet did not show the full picture. They omitted this part of Guevara's UN remarks from that day: “Yes, we have executed people; we are executing people and shall continue to execute people as long as it is necessary.“

Death toll of civilians by French forces in Mali—including 19 at a wedding—is far higher than they admit.

Also completely disproportionate to the amount of French civilians killed.

How can UNRWA claim to be strictly humanitarian when you pronounce on "root causes" of the conflict, and falsely point the finger at Israel?

UNRWA found a Hamas tunnel dug 7 meters below its Zaitoun Prep A Boys School in Gaza.

In 2015, a UN investigation found that Hamas and/or Islamic Jihad stored rockets in schools that were in active use by children, and fired rockets at Israelis from UNRWA schools.
