The GOP budget squanders a 1-time $2 billion surplus built largely on federal COVID relief to give Arizona's wealthiest residents a permanent, unsustainable tax cut. This welfare for the wealthy is designed to thwart voters who passed Invest in Ed to fund our schools. #AZbudget

As wildfires raged across our state we came together with $100m to immediately address the crisis. Future legislatures' hands will be tied, especially if the economy slows, with $1.7b off the top going back to the rich & shared revenues w/cities rising from 15% to 18%. #AZBudget

The GOP dismantles public ed by diverting millions to private schools through unprecedented expansion of vouchers. Voters overwhelmingly rejected this already. And they muzzle teachers and drive them from the profession with spurious "critical race theory" complaints. #AZbudget

Juneteenth just got designated a federal holiday. Good luck to teachers who try to explain in class why it's important. Schools can lose $ and teachers their careers if discussion of subjects like slavery and equality cause certain parents discomfort. #AZBudget

The biggest infrastructure investment Republicans make is building upon #TheBigLie. They spend millions to fund perpetual fraudits and force election officials to add watermarks, ultraviolet designs and QR codes to ballots to appease deluded conspiracy theorists. #Azbudget

The GOP Criminal Justice budget undoes any progress on police reform by outlawing civilians on civilian review boards. It does outfit DPS with body cams but gives the director wide latitude to withhold footage (any footage, not just bodycams) from the public. #Pointless #AZBudget

Republicans provide nothing more for affordable housing or children's healthcare, but did find $5m to sweeten horse racing purses for gamblers and will fund controversial crisis pregnancy centers that give women inaccurate info about reproductive healthcare. #Priorities #AzBudget

And their budget robs authority from our @SecretaryHobbs & @Supt_Hoffman because they have the audacity to be Democrats chosen by AZ voters. Republicans have lost seats and votes since their supermajority a decade ago but none of their arrogance. #AZBudget
