I think even a lot of people who are tuned-in to Justice Democrats' antics don't realize this:

πŸ”₯The Justice Dems became a SuperPAC on May 1, 2020πŸ”₯
And if you're thinking
"I thought the Justice Democrats hated SuperPACs? πŸ€”"

You are correct. They are hypocrites.

(And the first time they tried to turn JusticeDems into a SuperPAC was on 1/9/2017) ImageImageImageImage
By using their new SuperPAC, the Justice Democrats were able to buy nearly $1 MILLION in ads in Jamaal Bowman's race against Eliot Engel.

$620,000 to SUPPORT Bowman
$300,000 to OPPOSE Engel Image
Having a SuperPAC is how the Justice Democrats were able to start accepting unlimited contributions from their donors.

Donations such as half a million dollars from Charles Dunlop, CEO of a genetics company.

And large transfers from other PACs & SuperPACs. ImageImage
For the "gotcha" folks reading this:

The Justice Dems (as well as Sunrise and others) are technically "Carey Committees".

That simply means that they are a hybrid organization can do everything a PAC can do AND everything a SuperPAC can do.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_PAC Image
And the pinnacle of hypocrisy, here is Jacobin to explain why actually it's good for socialists to have SuperPACs.

AOC spent $240,000 on Facebook ads in March 2021.

But what were those ads actually advertising?

Where was she running them?

Who was she targeting?

Is she still spending $10k/day on Facebook ads?

Let's find out! ImageImage
Facebook banned political ads immediately following Election Day 2020, but eventually lifted the ban on March 4, 2021.

Google also lifted their ban on political ads that followed 1/6.

AOC jumped right back into spending big on them...20 months ahead of her next election. ImageImage
Part 1: What has AOC been advertising on Facebook?

By and large, AOC's tens of thousands of Facebook ads fall into 3 categories:

1) Self-promotional
2) Merch!
3) The Squad ImageImageImage

AOC took in more money in the 2020 election cycle than Joe Crowley did in his entire 21-year congressional career. ImageImage
Only *4* Reps out-raised AOC in 2020.

AOC campaigned hard on getting money out of politics and attacked Crowley incessantly for raising ~$3M per cycle.

AOC is still using a Brex credit card for a lot of campaign expenditures.

And instead of calling it "Brex" in her accounting system, the campaign calls it "VEYOND!", its long defunct name.

This obscures the *actual* vendors & makes it much harder to see where $ is being spent. Image
Let's take a look at AOC's 3/25/21 payment to Brex CCπŸ”Ž

The details are on p.3982 (of 4008) of her Q1 filing if you want to play along at home!

What do you know?! It's mostly obscuring payments to FACEBOOK, just like last time.

Bernie & Manchin have only cast opposing votes 13% of the time so far this term. But it was closer to 50% over the last few years.

Let's go back & look at some times where Bernie went rogue & voted NO when the Democratic Party voted YES!

(These are just a handful of examples) Image
Bernie was one of 2 Senators (along with Rand Paul) to vote against Iranian & Russian sanctions in 2017. Image
Bernie was one of 3 Senators to vote for maintaining the US Embassy in Jerusalem this year.

(1 of the other 2 was Elizabeth Warren) Image

Sunrise Movement has been getting a lot of attention in the last few days.

Just a reminder that in addition to everything else problematic about their organization, they have structured themselves to be the exact types of money they proclaim to hate:

πŸ’° dark money
πŸ’° SuperPAC
Sunrise's organizational status is a 501c4 nonprofit, which is what the term "dark money" almost always refers to in politics!

501c4 nonprofits...
β–ͺ️can take unlimited money from individuals, LLC's, etc
β–ͺ️can have political goals
β–ͺ️do not have to report their donors
And they also have a SuperPAC!

(They're technically a Carey/Hybrid Committee which just means they have both a PAC & a SuperPAC)

SuperPACs...
β–ͺ️can take unlimited money from individuals, LLC's, etc

But SuperPACs are not dark $ because they publicly report all donors to the FEC

Here's a new thing the Justice Dems have started doing recently:

They've been creating & promoting these highly specific websites for their unreasonable demands of the week.

The domain names are in the same Demand+Thing+.org/com format.
And the website is just a petition.
I've found 8 so far, but there are probably more πŸ‘‡

β–ͺ️Abolish ICE
abolishicenow .org

β–ͺ️Cancel Student Debt
cancelstudentdebtnow .com

β–ͺ️Demand Market Equality
gamestopped .org

β–ͺ️Pass $2000 Checks
survivalchecks .com
β–ͺ️Hold Them Accountable
gopcoup .com
(This feels like the worst one to me 🀨)

β–ͺ️Expand the Supreme Court
expandscotus .org

β–ͺ️Demand a $15 Minimum Wage
demand15 .com

β–ͺ️Tell Congress: Medicare For All Now
medicare4allnow .org
