There were two waves of #COVID19 between Mar 2020 and May 2021 in England.
We estimate the first wave started in Mar 2020 and ended in late May 2020.
The second wave began in Sept 2020, peaking in Nov 2020, before rising again in Dec 2020 ow.ly/sW2o50FkEPP

The lag between symptom onset and hospital admission varies between 1 and 6.7 days depending on age and whether the patient lives in a nursing home.
Cases compatible with the Delta variant of #COVID19 continued to increase in England, increased in Wales and Scotland and remained low in Northern Ireland in the week ending 19 June 2021.

The infection rate increased in the North West and the North East in the week ending 19 June 2021, while there were early signs of an increase in the East of England and the South West.

The difference in the number of births and deaths (known as natural change) in the year to mid-2020 was the lowest it’s been in 38 years, largely because of the increased number of deaths.

Around 7 in 10 adults said they always or often maintained social distancing (69% this week, 66% last week) or avoided physical contact outside the home (72% this week, 71% last week).

93% of 16 to 29 year-olds reported they’d either received or would be likely to have a #COVID19 vaccine if offered (up from 89% last week).

The proportion of UK businesses’ workforce reported to be on furlough has decreased to 6% (around 1.5 million people), according to the latest Business Insights and Conditions Survey.
