It's essentially a straight choice between Jermaine Jenas and Kevin Shields...

We open with the late, great John Peel talking about @MBVofficial in 1991 and seeing them having three albums in the charts simultaneously in, ooh, about 30 years’ time…

...and then it's into ‘Honeypower’, which might be my favourite @MBVofficial song. I remember they opened their warm-up show at the @ICALondon back in 2008 with this and it sounded like a wounded elephant! 🐘

It wasn't just about ‘Honeypower’ in 1991, it was also about ‘Hips Tits Lips Power’ according to Silverfish!

Totally forgot this song came out on Creation Records. There were quite a few links between Camden Lurch and shoegaze, really, weren't there @steve_lamacq?!

@thesociallondon Next up, @moonshake666, whose rare as hens’ teeth debut EP for Creation is a real must have. This is the ace ‘Coming’ which is presumably not about football returning home 🤔

@thesociallondon @moonshake666 So @moonshake666 were (I assume) named after a Can song; Holger Czukay was in Can and released a great solo album (‘Radio Wave Surfer’) in 1991, and this song is from it!

@thesociallondon Next up, Welfare Heroine, the band formed by the much-missed Dele Fadele who sadly passed away a few years ago. They didn't release much, but they did support @MBVofficial and this track is ace!

@thesociallondon I knew Dele from working at @NME; he was an incredible writer who really got the whole shoegaze thing; he came to the @slowdiveband reunion show at Hoxton Bar in 2014 and back in the day was immortalised on Chapterhouse’s song ‘Deli’...

Primal followed by @ScreamOfficial and ‘I’m Comin’ Down’ from ‘Screamadelica’, which I also bought on tape from Volume a few weeks later – as soon as I'd finished my first day at uni!

Now on to the indie Enya, aka This Mortal Coil. This is from their third and final album ‘Blood’ and is a cover of Emmylou Harris’ ‘Til I Gain Control Again’...

It was sung by Heidi Berry, who also released her own album on @4AD_Official in 91, which featured this INCREDIBLE cover of Hüsker Dü’s ‘Up In The Air’:

@4AD_Official Terry Bickers of Levitation plays guitar on this, and he also guests on the following track (wrongly credited as Terry Bikers)...

It’s Les Nouvelles Polyphonies Corses and ‘Anima’, which also features John Hassell who sadly passed away the other day. It's a stunning album:

Keeping it French, with Etienne Daho. Might be cheating here as I think this @terrystuckshop remix came out in 92, but it's from his 91 album and England won, so who cares? It's ace but not on YouTube, so here's the original:
