We are all VERY addicted

A thread on addiction and how it harms you
Deep within our brains we have a limbic system that is primarily responsible for the regulation of our survival emotions.

Fear, Anger, Hunger, Sex
Inside the limbic system we have a part called the hippocampus that is responsible for learning and memory.

When you eat or have sex your brain is going to trigger the release of dopamine in attempt to reward you for that survival behavior.
The reward will transmit to your hippocampus and amygdala so that you record a memory of the feeling and seek it again.

The limbic system keeps us alive with a simple reward system.
There are certain less natural things substances that trigger the release of dopamine though.

Sugar, drugs, alcohol

These are addicting because you take them, they make you feel good (dopamine), then you want it again.
This is tapping in the same part of limbic system that uses the reward system for survival…

When use of substance Is repeated several times, the said substance hijacks our lil noggin’s reward system via the use of dopamine and now we think we need it for survival.
Although we are conscious of the fact that we *don’t* need heroine to survive, our brain does not know the difference.
Obviously the reward system is powerful and during the last 200 years it’s been messed with a lot.

I guess smart/evil people figured they can hijack your brain and literally get you addicted to their products

$$$
Firstly by large companies getting you more addicted to their food via sugar and other shit

Then by large companies getting you more addicted to entertainment (Stories, sex, fantasy)

Then once again by large companies getting you severely addicted to validation** (worst one)
This is the most fucked up thing that has happened in our lives…
You’re going to tap into our innocent desire to feel loved and welcome among our peers? Then you’re going to make us addicted to a cheap version of it so that we’re always on your platform?
That way you can sell advertising space to shit companies that feed us more shit. Then finally all of this will result in us untimely feeling unvalidated and lonely when we get off your platform because we are so juiced up and high from the reward.

Fuck you.
Depression is popular these days for 2 reasons
1.) If we don’t feel validated 99% of the time we get sad.
2.) We are so distracted and addicted we can figure out what we want to do, and if we do we have no passion for it.

I wonder why.
We have an infinite dopamine supply at our disposal in our pockets pretty much 99% of the time

The willpower needed to control that impulse to simply pull out your phone and go on twitter is non existent.
Personally I probably get twitter 30-40 times per day. Even if I just checked it.

We are all very addicted and this is level of change is very new to us in regards to human evolution.
Imagine driving a car at 1000 RPM for 1 hour and then in 5 seconds accelerating to 6000 RPM and keeping it there until something happens.

We are salves
What do we do?

We regulate it.

We have too much dopamine, we need to bring the levels down and take back control.
This will most likely: Increase willpower, increase your ability to enjoy simple things again, get rid of depression, make you less lazy, WAY more productive in whatever you’re trying to accomplish, and get you to a more nature chemical balance up there.
You can start with sugar, no soda, no sports drinks. Just make 90% of what you drink water.

Defiantly stop watching porn, unless you’re making $$$ off instagram you should probably delete it.

You get the idea. If it makes you feel good as soon as you do it, regulate it.
One last thing to keep in mind is you can get addicted to heathy things.

Getting a pump, exercising, learning

These activities also release dopamine but in lower amounts than sugar or porn would.

Thats why they are so boring if you’re already addicted to the bad shit.
Try this out, when you go to bed shut your phone off and don’t turn it on until the day after.

Watch how fucking bored you get.

We didn’t even have phones when I was a kid LMAO.
Started off as a more educational thread but now I’m just pissed, I hate what has happened to us. Everyone is in a mental prison it seems like.

If you feel like you’re in a mental prison then think about regulating your dopamine intake and running from the bullshit.

Let me tell you a story..

It's 5 am, cold, my 17 year old mom is on her way into town to get milk and bread. Shell bring it back home for everyone to eat.

In the house she grew up in you won't find a toaster, no microwave, not even a fridge.
If you need to keep something cold, it would go outside underneath the house in a hole. Forgot what they call it.

My family lived in Romania underneath the communist regime of "Ceaușescu".

Say that name to a middle aged romo and see how they react.
My grandfather, John, desperately wanted to escape and see his family living a better life.

Like most immigrants i'd imagine, they really dreamed about America.

So he came up with a plan.

Depression -> Making life my bitch

Thread
Let me start by saying I used to discredit depression before I ever felt it. In my mind it was stop wining and grow up.
It was easy to say at the time.
But I did have a phase that lasted about 8 months.
I was lonely, sad and bitter everyday. My childhood taught me to just push through painful times because they would be over soon but this felt like hell.
My mentality towards my feelings where, “stop being a pussy, you’re a little bitch”. Insecurity galore.

A very VERY HARSH thread on why you don’t succeed in business

If everything you’ve ever done has failed, give this a read…. 🔽
1.) Listen closely, there’s a very very clear reason most people are stupid, broke, and average — its because it’s easy. In the past humans had to hunt for food, go to war. Life, in terms of survival, has progressively gotten easier which has made us LAZY.
When it comes down to nitty gritty, your fucking lazy. People spend hours designing new ways to advertise brands and talking to other intelligent people to combine ideas and test new brilliant plans but you don’t do that do you… why?
