The duties of a Jyotishi. Real life example.

Besides predicting about future, an astrologer has many moral obligations as well. One of the strongest duty is to be honest with the person who are seeking us. We should treat them with respect and should deal with utmost honesty.

It is important because we are been assigned an important duty by the divine power. This role includes guiding others towards the right direction. It is not meant for misleading others. We are just like doctors who can be a spirit of Divinity or could be following malpractices.

Besides a thorough education in this branch, we also require some minor know how in psychology and other branches of science. The divine role given to us is important so that God can persuade his seekers towards the right path. If we fail to do our duties, then we would be

punished as well. Through the past twenty-three years or so, I have come across many wrong doers of this field who are nobody now. They are either very poor or are living richly but for sure, they are considered non accomplished and they are the subjects of an unhealthy life as

well. This is just the outcome of bad karmas. If we as astrologers cannot understand this basic thing about honesty in our own karmas then we are not astrologers as well.
The most happiest moments for an astrologer are the times when somebody you gave advise to achieves some

happiness or something in his/her life. Like doctors, we can also save lives from malice and down gradation. This is the path been assigned to us and if we follow it righteously, we can see the miracles taking place.
An incident been narrated over here gives us clues that how s.

important are our words and actions in real life. This incident took place in year 2001. I was having separate classes for CG in an institute because I needed more computer time. My Jyotish Visharad course completed in 1997 and I was taking practical case studies to advance my

skills.
A kid use to come over there to take classes. He was usually a quite person and I did not knew that he was actually using his summer holidays to increase his computer skills. He was studying in US at that time and was making the best use of his holidays at his grand

parent’s place. I do not remember how we talked but I ended up seeing his horoscope. I told him that he is going to be a doctor in future. He was very happy to listen to this and while conversing with father over the phone, he shared the prediction as well. I could feel the joy

in his voice while he was chatting with his father.
I forgot the incident because it is common in astrologer’s life. Meet people, guide them and then forget them. You are just a mode in the hands of the divine powers.
Many years later, I received an email. That little kid

searched me from the internet and emailed me. Here is the copy of the email.
“Dear Alok,
I just wanted to say hi and see how you are doing. You may not remember me, but you had a lasting impact on me and I just wanted to say thank you for that. We met at xxx in Jaipur in the

summer of 2001. I was the little kid from America taking classes in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw. I found you because I remembered your name and typed in xxx and I saw your website and amazing gallery, but it seems that it was last updated in xx.
I am in my last semester of

studies Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and I will finish my degree in May. I have been accepted to medical school and I will be attending this fall so that I may receive my M.D. Every time I thought about not becoming a doctor I always thought back to some

important people in my life and often I think about when you told me that I will end up becoming a wealthy doctor because its written in my stars. I still do not believe in astrology, but I do believe people that believe in me and I wanted to say thanks for that.

This little kid I met in year 2001 is now a full time doctor of Vascular & Interventional Radiology and is placed in North Chesterfield, VA.
This email confirms that the words of an astrologer has a solid value if they are given with good intentions. The

happiest thing (And the most important thing as well) is that the other person believes your word and also strives to make a difference through the same. This is great responsibility for all astrologer brethren. Just be good to others ( I know it is very hard during these trying

times), be honest and remember that you are sometimes the God sent person for others. Since they believe in us, we cannot do anything to hurt that belief. All the puzzles will be solved and all pieces of jigsaw will fit themselves to a correct picture, This will be done only

when we try to attune ourselves to great responsibility levied upon us
