it’s called FITTING IN. it’s annoying, i know, but conformity is required in a social species.
i often find that minorities are annoyed about things that a lot, or even most, people experience, they’re just not aware of it for whatever reasons.

when i lived in norway, i worked with a bunch of immigrants from south asia/mena, and they opened up to me at one point about…
…how discriminated against they felt ‘cause norwegians never talked to them (you know, no chit chat).

they were surprised when i explained that they don’t talk to ME, either! they don’t talk to each other, either! =P not in a chit-chatty, social sort of way.

#StruggleSessions happened in the 1950s in china, if not earlier. sort of practice runs for the cultural revolution. from Violence in China (books.google.com/books?id=ShGfc…):
"It was difficult or downright impossible, many Chinese would argue, to remain silent during this campaign. To remain silent was to risk being attacked oneself. At best, people attacked to avoid being attacked." books.google.com/books?id=ShGfc… #StruggleSessions
"Of the true believers, many were convinced not only that struggle and violence were necessary for the achievement of revolutionary goals but also that the sacrifice of a few innocent people was the inevitable price to be paid." #StruggleSessions books.google.com/books?id=ShGfc…

three features of common-field systems:
1) the open fields
2) practice of common pasture on the stubble and fallow
3) regulation of cropping, grazing, other farm management *by an assembly of cultivators.*

i think the last may be very important. #EverySocietySelectsForSomething
