🪵Today The Queen and The Princess Royal visited one of the last wild spaces in the west-end of Glasgow: @childrens_wood.

🌲The former football pitch was transformed into a woodland and meadow 20 years ago.
🧺 @Childrens_wood is an important place for the local community: people of all generations come here to walk their dogs, picnic, garden, play and enjoy being in nature.

🌱Her Majesty and The Princess were shown around community allotments where herbs and vegetables are grown.
🍃 The project aims to connect people to nature and involved them in the management of their own land.

🔥 Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness met local school children toasting marshmallows and popping corn.
🐝 And humans aren’t the only ones to enjoy the space!

🍯 The Children’s Wood bee hives produce pots of honey, one of which was presented to Her Majesty as she left.

🌏 This morning The Queen and The Princess Royal visited the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute to learn about their work to combat climate change.

🚙 Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness arrived at @EdCentreCC, which is part of @EdinburghUni, by hybrid Range Rover.
☀️ The Queen and The Princess heard about the pioneering research on climate change and solutions.

🌊 They viewed a scale model of a @WaveEnergyScot device that generates electricity from wave energy. The real 8 meter long device is soon to be installed off the Orkney coast.
🎓 #DidYouKnow The Princess Royal has been Chancellor of The University of Edinburgh since 2011, a role previously held by The Duke of Edinburgh, who became Chancellor in 1953. Image

This morning The Duke of Cambridge visited BAE Systems’ shipyard in Govan to mark the official start of construction on the @RoyalNavy’s 21st century warship HMS BELFAST, and to see how construction is progressing on HMS GLASGOW. ImageImage

🇬🇧🇺🇸 Today, The Queen will receive President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty has received 4 other Presidents of the United States at Windsor Castle in recent years.

President Biden will be the 13th serving US President to be met by Her Majesty.
As Head of State, The Queen regularly speaks to world leaders and key diplomatic figures.

The President and Dr Biden are in the UK for the @G7 Summit. The Queen and Members of The Royal Family attended the G7 Leaders Reception on Friday.

🍃 Today marks the launch of @QGCanopy, a a unique, UK-wide tree planting initiative created to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

🌱🎥 ‘Planting a tree is a statement of hope and faith in the future.’

The Prince of Wales, Patron, recalls planting the first Jubilee tree in the grounds of Windsor Castle alongside The Queen, during the planting season (October - March).

Verdun Oaks were first planted in the UK after WW1, cultivated from acorns collected from the battlefield at Verdun.
