Nestled in Rajsamand district, Molela seems a nondescript village to many. It’s often in the shadow of Udaipur, which lies about 15 kilometres away.

#DidYouKnow #IncredibleIndia #heritage #history
However, the village has a community of artisans that have garnered a name for themselves by developing a rare art style known as the Molela murtikala, where votive terracotta idols are made on flat surfaces like tiles and plaques.
There is a local legend behind this unique craft that claims that there was a blind potter who dreamt of the deity Dharmaraj. In the dream, the deity asked him to dig for clay at a particular place and use it to make his image.

It takes 500,000 gallons (2,273,000 litres) of water to mine one tonne of lithium. In Chile's Atacama Salt Flats, lithium mining has been linked to declining vegetation, hotter daytime temperatures and increasing drought conditions in national reserve areas.

Mauna Loa shares the Big Island with Mauna Kea, which is the tallest mountain in the world when measured from its underwater base nearly 20,000ft below the ocean surface.
Mauna Loa is spewing sulfur dioxide and other volcanic gases. They form volcanic smog, or vog, when they mix with vapor, oxygen and dust in sunlight.

The India-Pakistan War of 1971 turned the INS Vikrant into one of India’s shining #war heroes but #didyouknow that this legendary aircraft carrier started life as the HMS Hercules in the Royal Navy? That didn’t stop her from winning glory for the #IndianNavy! 1/10
It seemed as if the Vikrant - India’s first aircraft carrier - would never see action. She was 28 years old when she played a pivotal role in the ‘Bangladesh War’ of 1971; she was in poor shape; and her speed was just 25 kmph, almost half her designed speed. 2/10
But this didn’t stop the old #warship from undergoing sea trials and the rigorous training of her crew, air squadrons and their pilots, in preparation for the impending #war that pitted #India against #Pakistan for the liberation of East Pakistan, or #Bangladesh. 3/10

The market cap of this 42% is ~$40 Bn (3 lakh Crores)

Kanji Manchhu Desai was the first Gujarati hotelier in the US. He moved from the West Indies by the way of Mexico to San Francisco in the early 1920s.

In the early 1940s, Kanji was living in a residential motel called Goldfield which was run by a Japanese-American.

Despite a 5% decline in China's luxury car industry, Audi alone sold over 7+ lakh cars in 2021.

Despite doubling sales in India, Audi only sold 3293 cars in 2021.

We have a long way to go.
And this is the reason why we will never see Tesla anytime soon in India
Even if we combine the sales of Audi + BMW + Mercedes + JLR and other luxury cars in India in 2021, it would still stand at 25-26K for the year.

China's Audi alone sells ~55k cars in a MONTH!

Our sales numbers are not even close to what China is selling in a month!
As our income grows, sales would only shoot up and there's a huge opportunity there for luxury cars. And more the sales, more will be the manufacturing hubs in India and not just the assembly.

#DidYouKnow that the modern version of badminton originated in ‘Poona’, or Pune in Maharashtra? It was a pastime for bored British army officers, their families and friends, and was first played in the backyards of their sprawling bungalows. 1/7
#Badminton #sports
Invented in the mid-19th century, badminton was named ‘Poona’ after the city of its origin. But its earliest version goes back 2,000 years to a game called jeu de volant, played in #Greece and #China. Here, a shuttle-like object was smacked with the feet. 2/7
In Poona, #British officers changed the sport radically by introducing a net to divide the court. They also used a leather shuttlecock, which they hit with wooden racquets. This version of the game was first played in 1867. 3/7 #Indianhistory
