Dozens of babies have died or been left with brain damage at a maternity service that has been accused of bad care and neglect, a joint investigation by Channel 4 News and @Independent has found.

Sarah and Jack’s daughter was still born at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH). The couple, who worked for the trust, are calling for an independent inquiry.
@Independent From 2010 to 2020, at least 46 babies suffered brain damage and 19 were stillborn at NUH NHS trust maternity services.
@Independent NUH’s chief executive Tracy Taylor has apologised to the bereaved families and said that improving maternity services was a “top priority” for the trust.

Exclusive: @Channel4News has seen an upcoming report from IPPR and the Runnymede Trust on Covid-19 and ethnic inequalities.

Report claims 58,000 more coronavirus deaths could have occurred in England and Wales if white people faced the same risk as Black communities.
Taking out the effects of age and sex, the report authors estimate at least 2,500 black and south Asian deaths could have been avoided.
The IPPR is recommending that ethnicity is considered as a risk factor when deciding who should be tested.
