I love men, I honestly do. My empathy overflows for almost everyone I meet. I’m defeated by rape culture in America. I hope you can understand that. I’m mad, and I have reason to be, and I’m going to get into why. I’m this thread. So strap in. ❤️

We tell rape victims that they have to come forward, because if they don’t they are responsible for any more rapes that the rapist does, because they could have been prevented… but that isn’t true. Over 80% of rape cases that lead to an arrest end with the rapist serving no time

The rape tests are invasive, hours spent with your recently violated body, exposed and examined, while you’re forced to relive the trauma over and over again. After all of that degrading and painful work they don’t get tested. It’s just theatrical for no purpose.

People can say we just need to vote better but the problem is that politics won’t fix this. Our politicians are OWNED by corporations, not by the people. Corporations couldn’t care less about women. Just look at how they fight maternity leave and equal pay.

We used to have lobotomies and forced hysterectomies if we were a problem to men, do you understand the history of the word hysteria, or hysterical? Look it up… please.

We are blamed for everything bad that happens to us. What were you wearing, did you fight back, well you told him yes because he could ruin your career but it was still yes… if a bad man gets any small modicum of power they immediately use it to get coerced sex from us.

Wanna know what happens when we say no in a professional setting? I can tell you from experience we get fired, demoted, and blacklisted. “She’s so crazy and emotional. She’s a liar. She asking for it, just look at her. And then she acts like she doesn’t want it.”

Wanna know what it’s like for us as teens? Sex is our ONLY value to boys. If we don’t put out they pressure us relentlessly. Pawing at our genitalia, and telling us they love us while never valuing anything about us other than our physical form.

We were property. You all owned us in the not so distant past. There are literally pictures of women fighting for rights and that means a lot because cameras aren’t that old. AUGUST 18, 1920…. 1920!!!!

You may think this is a simple problem and we’re making strides but we still make less than men. We still have to fight for ownership of our own bodies every day. Our rights are fought about in churches and back room deals where we have no voice. We are marginalized citizens.

This is exhausting to live with, to know my only value is in how pretty I am. And I’m thankful I’m beautiful because otherwise I would have all the weight of this oppression, and I wouldn’t have a voice because men wouldn’t see my value to listen to me.

Even if that beauty has its price… that price being my dignity, my self respect, my body autonomy, my happiness, and when I was small and helpless… my innocence.
