I never post plant status anymore because... well.... the balcony belongs to the plants now.
I just... I still need to put up the long planters on the other side of the railing but I have no idea how I'm supposed to do that considering that between all the plants you can't fucking move
balcony carries 400 kg per square meter, so I am perfectly within the safety limits
pretty sure at least 30% of the plant mass on the balcony is catnip. I have given up on trying to keep them happy. they always make white spots on leaves no matter how much fertiliser I give them.
and they won't. fucking. die.
at this point i just tear them out and leave them lying around so they'll dry out and die.... but they keep on living.
I hope this little willow is a weeping willow. it looks like one. so I hope it survives. I'd like to have a little weeping willow in a pot.
#insects these tiny black and white beetles seem to live on the plantains now. I have never seen them before in my life.
the balcony is also a paradise for spiders, but they're not as photogenic.

the voice part for that doctor who doomsday song makes a reeeeallly nice violin song 👀 I mean when I try it that's just horrific, but played someone who CAN actually play it would probably sound like a dream
soooo pretty. my attempts are starting to vaguely sound like this song but oooooof. long way to go
I am really proud of me for correctly noticing that this part would be perfectly within the range of a fiddle, which for me is a new skill 🤣
Leute...
for someone who proudly hates the lord of the rings I sure listen to a lot of lord of the rings music
but what can I do? the songs are nice. they really are. the books can burn for all I care, the movies should never have existed, but the music can stay
the only good thing that ever came off the lord of the rings movies was the hobbits to isengard and you can quote me on that
wow I have progressed from trying to recite the alphabet to numbers ranging from 1 to 4... 🎻 if anyone were listening to me that would be so hilarious
like I am trying to establish the connection between blobs and lines and sounds and finger positions and letters and numbers and that *is* difficult but what I end up saying out loud is like "so this is four... no this is three. and next to three is two. and this is.. two? no"
trying really hard to resist the temptation to just write the numbers on the respective fingers
sooo attaching a strap to the head of the violin made a much bigger difference than I expected! this is awesome!
this is what I did:
I used an elastic shoelace with a fastener,
and a strap with a clip that's the right length to wear around my neck.
wrap the shoelace around the scroll three times with the strap in between, and done! it is very stable and doesn't touch the pegs at all.
I've found that wearing it like this allows for a better sitting position.
this was my previous position, I was very leaned back and let the violin rest against my breastbone and on top of my knees. it's very horizontal that way which is playable but honestly exhausting.
