Amid all the fury unleashing online re St Josephs: the school does have Indigenous & rural students & if vaccinating the whole of Year 12 ("one in, all in") cured any vaccine hesitancy, then good. Any fury should be for NSW Health which "owns" Pfizer doses

Would have thought - esp given #NAIDOC2021 - that one of Australia's better known private schools. going, in the best Marist pastoral tradition, to NSW Health for Covid jabs to protect their Indigenous students & these students' communities, would be an example worth praising

Sadly, social media, esp Australian political twitter, is dominated by the loudest, most broken, voices, nursing grievances from, inter alia, high school & university, and unable to attribute good faith to any activity.

I think we would all agree it would be terrible if an Indigenous student from a St Josephs or like school - returning home for winter holidays to a remote community preserved from Covid so far - was the human vector of the pathogen getting amongst vulnerable Indigenous peoples.

Finally, if you were once a young lad and/or know how young lads think, it is common sense to make a vaccination, a "One In, All In" matter, as a way of allaying any fears/Vaccine hesitancy, versus a few lads, esp Indigenous lads, being singled out.

If the Principal of Joeys was smart enough to work out that Indigenous Australians 16+ are eligible for Pfizer, then clearly that was something knowable & doable by other Principals? Surely they all should be protecting their Indigenous students & thus their communities?

Above likely applies here, too - private Catholic schools have had bursary funds for centuries and some especially for Indigenous students from remote areas for a long time. You can look this stuff up etc

This is just very silly (if also entirely expected) demagoguery from Dee here, especially as Indigenous 16+ were prioritised for Pfizer jabs

Sounds like St Joseph’s acted most presciently in protecting their indigenous students with Pfizer jabs given these new cases in younger people
