If you listened solely to Democratic talking points & the so-called mainstream media, you would be convinced that America is a systemically racist & Republicans are hell bent on disenfranchising large swaths of voters. Both notions are patently false.
2/
In fact, in 2021 it is easier to register and vote now than at any point in American history – no matter what color your skin is. This is a measure of progress of which we should all be proud.
3/
Despite these facts, Dems in Congress have manufactured a myth of widespread voter suppression to impose a federal takeover of elections via #HR4, the #JohnLewisVotingRights bill, introduced (and never passed) in the last Congress as #HR4.
4/
Both the recently-failed HR1/S1 & the "John Lewis" bill are key instruments for the unprecedented federal power grab - with the former a predicate to gut the #filibuster, pass the latter, & then the rest of the incredibly unpopular radical left agenda. #CorruptPoliticiansAct
5/
The biggest, but not only, major change in HR4 is to reinstitute the practice of requiring federal preclearance (i.e., federal permission) for any state election change, no matter how minor. Preclearance was previously struck down as unconstitutional by SCOTUS in 2013.
6/
HR4 is an attempt by the Dems to go around the court & once again subject state election reforms to a federal veto – no matter how trivial any proposed change might be - weaponizing the federal gov't as a political tool, to rig the system & preserve power for the radical left.
7/
Under HR4, the federal gov't could veto & block any, and potentially all, state election reforms (plus redistricting) under the guise of fighting discrimination. However, there is no requirement to actually prove that anything a state was proposing would be discriminatory!
8/
That's analogous to the federal gov't only having to ACCUSE an alleged defendant of committing a crime, & at that point it would be up to the defendant to prove himself innocent or go to jail. States would be guilty until they could prove themselves innocent.
9/
The reason for the original Voting Rights Act was to fix racist exclusionary laws in the South, and it succeeded! But the racist laws requiring federal intervention ignores the reality of America in the last 50+ years. So the Dems' argument doesn't hold water - it sinks.
10/
Only two states have both higher voter registration among Black voters than White voters and had higher voter turnout of Black voters than White voters in 2020. Guess which two states? Mississippi and Tennessee. The worst state in America? Massachusetts.
11/
The purpose of HR4 is not to protect voting rights, it's to stop state reforms making our elections more transparent, secure & accountable. Dems would have you believe that rampant voter suppression is one of the most crucial issues facing our nation. This assertion is false.
12/
In reality, HR4 is nothing but a power grab by congressional Dems aimed at taking over all state election powers/reforms + redistricting by federal bureaucrats with a radical agenda under the guise of voter protection. This would set America back.
13/
HR 4 should be rejected in favor of using the current #VotingRightsAct – Sections 2 and 3 – which have already proven to be effective in fighting true discrimination where and when it rears its ugly head.

Eric Adams declared winner of problem-plagued Democratic primary in NYC mayoral race washex.am/3yqWJhV

Look at what some of even the left wing dems say about this race and the failure of confidence in NY's election system.

First, one of the losing candidates (Wiley):
"It would be an understatement to express dismay at the BOE’s administration of this election ... Today we simply must recommit ourselves to a reformed Board of Elections and build new confidence in how we administer voting in New York City," she said.
@AOC, a Democrat representing parts of the Bronx and Queens who supported Wiley's candidacy, stood among a host of other New York Democrats who criticized the election board for its handling of the election following errors in tabulation.
