[thread] on @UKPrimeMinister @BorisJohnson and his decisions in relation to #FreedomDay

I want Boris to be right

I want him to lead

The fact that neither of those things is true or will happen

Does not remove my hope

It just demonstrates the fucking futility of it all
So first of all

I want covid to be over

I don't want to wear masks any more

I don't want to face restrictions from public health policies

But
I want this to be done in a way that is based on data

And takes an approach based on the risks

Of infection

Of hospitalisation

Of death

Of long covid

of the disruption that isolating due to infection has

And of the disruption that isolating due to risk of exposure has
I want schools to return

I want schools to be safe

I want children to learn

I want children to catch up

Just like Boris Johnson said on 3rd January 2021 : "There is no doubt in my mind that schools are safe"

news.sky.com/story/covid-19…
To the VERY NEXT DAY ....

"And because we now have to do everything we possibly can to stop the spread of the disease, primary schools, secondary schools and colleges across England must move to remote provision from tomorrow"

gov.uk/government/spe…
To those who champion conspiracy theories like the great reset

Or anti-vax bullshit

Fuck off
To those who want to champion anti-lockdown

Do champion it

But explain to me what you would have done instead and what cost in death was worth it

And how that would have prevented the UK seeing over 120,000 dead

lockdowns work

I know you don't want to admit that to yourself
Boris Johnson has wove a merry plethora of bullshit and nonsense in how he has sold the policy choice

He has said "if not now, when"

Simple

When data supports it and you can be honest with a nation about the choices you have made and why and LEAD a nation in that policy
Also Monday the 5th

“We must reconcile ourselves to more deaths from Covid,”

Ok

So how many more deaths?

What do you expect these to be per day?

When do you expect these to peak?

What is the "new normal" maximum daily peak?

coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/deaths
So its really simple

If you say the data supports easing lockdown

That's grand

Tell me what we "must reconcile" ourselves to

How many more dead?

How many infected?

How many hospitalised?

How many with long covid?

How many with life disrupted by isolating?
See also the Daily Mail

Taking the 20,000 deaths from Spring 2020

And trying to normalise this as an annual death expectation
At the Liasions Committee on 7/7/21

Boris: "we learn lessons the whole time"

Can we see your notes?

Boris Johnson
17/4/2020

"I’ve been comparing notes & talking to leaders around the 🌍, & I can tell you that 🇬🇧 is leading a growing global campaign amongst friends & allies"
In particular I want to see the notes you took with Italy

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8…
If you can lie about that

Well you can lie about anything

See also: lying to the Queen
So on NHS contact tracing app

"Boris Johnson has swerved growing concern over how the government is going to prevent people deleting the NHS Test and Trace App to avoid having to self-isolate when Covid infections surge this summer."

politicshome.com/news/article/j…
April 2020: The target was 80% uptake

bbc.co.uk/news/technolog…
June 24th 2021

Estimated 55.5 million users of smartphones

statista.com/topics/4606/uk…
Following a trial run and official release on the 24th of September 2020, the NHS COVID-19 app has been downloaded approximately 20.9 million times in England and Wales.

statista.com/statistics/119…
So you take 20.9 / 55.5

And you have a 37.7% uptake rate

A reminder - the take up rate on trials in Isle of Wight and across the UK was never really particularly high

theguardian.com/world/2020/sep…
So a Prime Minister

Who wants Test & Trace to retain whatever degree of effectiveness we have with the NHS app at 37% uptake

Should take the opportunity at PMQs to emphasise the importance of keeping this app installed or if not to install it
so let's move on to hypocrisy

no not this hypocrisy
9am 24/05/2020 vs 12pm 26/06/2021

MPs: 307 vs 363

No view: 260 v 280
Want him to quit: 0 v 80
Parent caring for child: 41
Was politicised: 2
Law wasn't broken: 2

For the one the PM orders them protected
the other he does nothing
So I come back to a simple question

If we are to use our common sense

Why did a government ministers common sense alter over the space of 4 hours?

So if you had to choose to make the decision that Boris Johnson has

That's fine

Make the decision

But you have to sell it

Honestly

Openly

And he can't

All he has is rambling bullshit at PMQs or in the daily briefing

And that is contemptible
When asked simple questions on the decision or government policy you blether utter bullshit of vaccines and brexit

Instead of taking Boris' dead cat bullshit of "if not now, when?"

Instead ask "if not now, why?"
If #FreedomDay was to be delayed

Why?

The answer is simple

The data does not support it due to a delta variant that Boris Johnson and his government allowed to be imported into the UK

Boris can’t own that responsibility
Hence #FreedomDay

a protective ring, square, wall around the King

The First Duty of Government gone

Dead in ditch

All that matters is self, career, project and power

I am going to praise @Nigel_Farage

Yup

I am going there

I would like to thank him for his honesty
I am going to focus on that occasion of his honesty

I want to use it to illustrate a question on the why he was honest and the how in the manner of how he said it
His "honesty" was evidenced on the morning of the 24th June 2016

"We have a £10 billion a year featherbed"

[thread] Now @joymorrissey blocked me a while back

Just for pointing out the words and record of her party

And I want to thank her for that

Because it means I don't get to see her doing things like this

No I am not talking about the portrait of the Queen

It is an MP sharing a photograph with a backdrop of her work computer in the background showing the screen active

That's a bit of an information security risk if she had anything sensitive on screen at the time
Oh and on the Queen's portrait

I would ask

In what way does she think lying to the Queen to unlawfully prorogue Parliament represents British values?

This is great news

This is brilliant news

Good business, workers and their families

Sadly

For Owen

It shows how desperate liars are

Not only to lie about it

But to exploit it

So I could just do this as a really short thread

There is one simple question to ask anyone who sells the lies like Owen does above

Precisely what did brexit enable us to do to encourage this company investment decision that we were not able to do pre-brexit?
Oh yes and don't try and link this

The UK will still be bound by EU rules and by WTO rules EVEN AFTER THIS

And it has not happened yet

[thread] I know it has been a long pandemic

It has been a long (at the time of writing) year and a half

On 23rd January 2020

Matt Hancock assured us the British government was "well prepared"

I am going to remind you of some other words that Matt has used over the same period
Matt Hancock 3rd April 2020

"However, the British public are, in a very large part, following the new rules, and the police are policing them largely with their normal consent-based attitude and approach. "

rev.com/blog/transcrip…
Matt Hancock 5th April 2020

"we do absolutely require people to follow them. And we have had these questions about the boundaries of the rules and people pushing the boundaries. "
