Look at the size of these rotations in #ES_F since RTH open. There's clearly a battle of size on BOTH sides after gap open lower; but the magnitude of declines is still a bit greater than advances. Be cautious as this structural area (280-300) is showing signs of indecisive chop.

In reference to the #ES_F balance described (280-300), it continues to fill out w/wide rotational chop, volume +130% of normal (with larger size running a bit higher than that). Watch for change relative to these levels for continuation trades w/solid R. Be careful in the middle.

Here's the #ES_F long entry developing in real-time right now against IBHi that I described in the prior tweet. entries against 301-300 Century make sense for gap closure to 320 yLo IMO. Would be wrong below 298s.

The alignment of one's mental processing predispositions AND emotional temperament (over different timeframes) is vitally important and dramatically underestimated by the vast majority of traders IMO. It's critical to whether one can succeed within a style or timeframe... (1/5)

Just because one is struggling to find success w/in a particular timeframe doesn't mean they can't find it trading a different TF/style/product. Novice traders have a tendency to let "sunk costs" hold them back from making changes, trying different things. That's a mistake. (2/5)

For example, if you prefer an analytical framework with rigorous decision-making, then perhaps scalping or intraday swing trading is NOT the style/TF for you. And, at core, it might well be why you're struggling. Simply a misalignment with the trader's natural strengths... (3/5)

Since it's a slow day, I'm going to give away the secret principles to success in this #trading game (for free!):

(1) Act consistently - take trades for the same reason(s), manage under a consistent rubric, trade the same times/product(s) etc. This is probably the most... (1/5)

...underrated, difficult, and yet invaluable skill; the often unsaid truth is that it doesn't so much matter what you do in trading (i.e. strategy/mgt/tools/etc) as long as you execute it consistently & maintain discipline, particularly when parts (2) and (3) are aligned... (2/5)

(2) Skew R/R in your favor (>1) over your PROCESS - this is the heart of the "cut your losses short, let your winners run" truism and it's foundational; It's very difficult to be successful over time without skewing your R... and this is something you have control over. (3/5)

THREAD: One needs to think of "execution" in #trading as a holistic process. It involves "analysis", pre-planning, as well as the game time decisions. And in the end the score is what really matters...and not just for a single game, but for each game throughout the season. (1/5)

Like a basketball game u need a gameplan, but that's not enough & meaningless on its own. Even if your analysis is perfect in mapping out opportunities to exploit in your competitor (mkt), it means nothing if u dont actually execute it during the game & put up a real score. (2/5)

Now, the precise "how" of putting up the score, the shots you actually choose to take (or not to take) during the game, whether you stick to your plan, is the PROCESS and it's important because it determines SUSTAINABILITY and REPLICABILITY throughout the season... (3/5)
