1/5 Israel's SC upholds the racist and discriminatory Jewish Nation-State Law, which enshrines Jewish supremacy and racial segregation as foundational principles of the State of Israel. The only dissenting opinion was issued by the only Arab justice on the court, Justice Kara.
2/5 . This law that establishes a constitutional identity, which completely excludes those who do not belong to the majority group is illegitimate and violates absolute prohibitions of international law.
3/5 Although Adalah explicitly noted intl. law violations in the petition that we filed on behalf of the Palestinian Arab leadership in Israel, the Attorney General and the Knesset decided to ignore and disregard these violations in their responses to the case.
4/5 Further, the Supreme Court delivered this judgment without any serious discussion of these issues and without obliging the State to respond to the violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, including treaties that Israel has signed and ratified.
5/5 Adalah will continue to work to expose the discriminatory, racist and colonial nature of the Israeli regime that has distinct characteristics of apartheid, as demonstrated well in this law.
