@rweingarten We teach history in a way where you take salient pieces of American history, you look at them, and you examine them so your students can understand them and think critically about them. - @rweingarten
@rweingarten What we're learning is that the arch of the moral universe has actually bent towards justice. - @rweingarten
@rweingarten In this push to try to erase what has happened in our history, it is chilling teachers from teaching the fact that we did have slavery, it was uncomfortable. We need kids to be able to think critically about it. - @rweingarten

1) As a union we have a legal defense fund so we can fight to defend our members who teach honest history.
2) We're going to the courts to ask if we can teach the civil war, Dred Scott, Juneteenth, the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments.
