Whatever your opinion on covid is, we can't deny one thing:

Its marketing department did one hell of a job

Let's analyze covid from a marketing perspective

(Yes, I'm biased):
It's 2019

AKA the "hype campaign"

We all kinda know what covid is, but not really

The "unknown far away sickness" seed gets planted in our brain
Now it "hits" the US and everyone freaks out

"OMG it's a real thing"

Humans hate uncertainty so what do they do?

Rush towards what will give them certainty:
We got told "if you buy masks and sanitize everything you'll be fine"

So what did people do?

Buy masks and sanitize everything

The "potential danger" at this point was bigger than the amount of money they had to spend

Fear sells.
Introducing, Flatten The Curve

I compare this to a "lead"

In marketing, a "lead" is the first paragraph of an ad that's selling you something

It's a small commitment with no end in sight, but because it's small and interesting you take it anyway
Same with the first lockdowns

It was a "3 week break" until everything "settled down"

Little did we know we were in for a fucking ride
1 more month

3 more months

6 more months

Classic "keep you in the edge of your seat" behavior

But then we started to get restless

And what did the media do?
This, to me, was brilliant:

They went from "Us vs. Covid"

To "Mask vs. No Mask"

And turned the war into a civil war
They made us angry, fearful and resentful at each other

"A house divided against itself cannot stand"

-Lincoln
This is when we lost

When we started taking sides

And the government knew it

This kept us occupied for months until the vaccine came along
Now it was even MORE divisive

Vaccine vs. No Vaccine

Mask vs. No Mask

They literally split us in 4 ways

Yes, it pissed me off but I recognize the genius behind it
Now we're kind of in that limbo between "what's going on?"

And that's what the government wants

A confused population with no idea what to think

My take is fuck covid and fuck vaccines and fuck masks
But you can think whatever you want

One thing I guarantee:

If you see this as a giant marketing campaign, you'll understand it way better

JK

Having no ideas for tweets sucks

Especially when everyone has so many good ones

Today I write 50 tweets a day for clients in 60 minutes, and it's fun af

Here's how:
You're not getting new ideas because you're trying to invent them

Ideas are not invented, they're assembled

Everything you know right now is a collection of what you read, people told you and you experienced yourself

They're not new ideas, they're new angles for the same idea
My favorite way to come up with fresh content is just that:

Consuming other people's content and letting my brain work

Your brain is a replication MACHINE

Expose it to good content and it will produce good content

My ghostwriting team and I write for people making anywhere from $10k-$100k a month.

Here are 7 questions that we ask ourselves before we even tweet anything for them.

-Virality
-Engagement
-Influence
-Attracting paying followers

Let's talk Twitter:
1. What can I delete without losing the message?

I'm going to = I will
You might be able to = You could
Due to the fact that = Because
At this point = Now
Make use of = Use
At all times = Always
In case that = If
In order to = to

Less words = More impact
2. Does this hit a psychological bias?

Don't ask yourself "what's the bias here?" every time.

There are hundreds, and it's just inefficient.

But study these for 1 week and watch what happens to your writing.

You're in the business of selling yourself.

Here are 20 lessons every good salesman needs to know.

//THREAD//
(1/20) What you say doesn't matter as much as saying it with confidence.

If your idea seems good enough and you chose to lead, people will follow.

A confident person calms others' anxiety just by showing up.
(2/20) Everybody wants to give you advice.

It's ok to listen, but it's not ok to follow advice just to please others.

Even if they're good at giving it,

They have no idea what your circumstances are so it's often irrelevant.

Watch me ghostwrite 9 tweets for @jackbutcher and prove my skill in public without his permission.

Because the Internet allows me to do so.

1/10:

"How people think it is:

1. Figure it out
2. Start

How it actually is:

1. Start
2. Figure it out"
3 ways to be miserable:

Focus on days instead of decades
Focus on money instead of time
Focus on effort instead of leverage
1900: People use tools (screwdriver, wrench, hammer)

2020: Tools use people (social media, algorithm, phones)

6 ways to go from "meh" to viral tweet-creating machine mode overnight

A thread:
1. Read

Read at night, and read whatever you want.

Take notes, scribble, highlight...

In the morning, open a scheduler, write as many tweets as you can with your notes as inspiration.

Infinite content.
2. Work out

My most popular tweet came to me while I was sweaty, dirty and catching my breath.

Put your phone in airplane mode while you work out.

Write anything that comes to mind.

I guarantee you, it will work.
