HAPPENING NOW: The Kraken sanctions hearing is back. Lin Wood is now trying to argue that the court has no jurisdiction over him. because the complaint does not have his email address or signature, and he did not apply for local admission to practice.
Wood: "Regardless of whether there was some misunderstanding about why my name got put on there. Each lawyer will affirm to you that I did not have any input into any one of these pleadings or affidavits and I was not asked to have any input into them."
Judge Parker says she'll let Wood submit a brief on why she doesn't have jurisdiction over him.
Judge Parker moving on to an affidavit from Melissa Carone, aka the witness who Rudy Giuliani had to shush during a fake legislative hearing.
Jumping back in as I'm writing — Judge Parker just noted that not a single Kraken lawyer asked an affiant if they'd actually seen election workers change votes from Trump to Biden.
Kleinfelder tries telling Judge Parker that it doesn't matter if votes were flipped if "the integrity of the voting was compromised," but she isn't having it. She points out that the Kraken suit asked the court to attribute "flipped" Biden votes to Trump.
Campbell is not doing his clients any favors by antagonizing the judge today.

Haller keeps beating the evidentiary hearing drum as if she's looking for the Fox talking point to argue that the judge is biased when she throws the book at them.
"I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that counsel, um, is coming to a sanctions hearing and does not have the documents that they themselves filed in front of them to be able to answer these questions." —Judge Parker
"I would just say we do not purport to be experts on on Michigan's process." —Haller, who put her name on a lawsuit asking to decertify Michigan's election results because Michigan's process allegedly allowed for fraud.
Judge Parker: "We're not necessarily experts in Michigan election process but the bottom line is, is, is that if you're going to file an affidavit there to this courts view, there should be a general understanding of the process..."
Judge Parker nails it: "My concern is that counsel here has submitted affidavits to suggest and make the public believe that there was something wrong with the election and that is what this is all about...
...That's what these average affidavits are designed to do, to show us wrong in Michigan, there was something wrong in Wayne County, these are the observations of what took place at the TCF center. I am simply taking those affidavits which counsel submitted...
...in support of the general proposition that there was fraud in the Michigan election, I'm looking at that, looking at the language of the affidavit and saying: 'Is that what this even says? What level of inquiry have you made?'"
Haller trying to explain the affidavit from the dog-walker who thought some bags dropped off with a postal worker "could be" ballots. I wish I could show Judge Parker's face right now.
Parker: "What information did the affiant have to make any of these conclusions in his affidavit?"

Haller: "He was speaking in the present tense and he took photos."

Parker: "This is anybody driving down the street and seeing somebody with plastic bags."
Haller: " I would simply submit that we identified a witness as a potential source in a complaint to support information...This particular witness did not jump to any conclusions...I believe he believed that that he saw ballots."
Powell: "The very fact that we filed 960 affidavits with our complaint shows extraordinary due diligence on our part."

Uhhhh
Kleinhelder is now citing the postal worker who signed an affidavit for Project Veritas but later recanted it when speaking to Postal Inspectors.
Judge Parker is asking Kleinhelder why they didn't submit the postal worker's affidavit, he says they'd bring him to an evidentiary hearing.

Fink calls the postal worker's allegations "some paranoid delusions of some witness who never even gets to a punchline."
Lawyers are now getting a chance to close.
Wow. Fink called Wood and Powell out for having a role in inciting 1/6. Wood wants to respond but Parker isn't letting him.
Powell now raising her hand as Judge Parker wraps things up.
"I have practiced law for 43 years and never witnessed a proceeding like this, including representing attorneys and sanctions proceedings themselves."

Powell throwing herself under bus.
"I take full responsibility myself for the pleadings," Powell says, adds that Wood, Newman, others had no role in drafting.
"The very fact that we attached 960 pages of affidavits reflect how seriously we took this matter," says Powell, who maintains that she'd do it all again.
And we're done

HAPPENING NOW: Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, and other "Kraken" lawyers are now in a Michigan virtual courtroom for a hearing on whether they should be sanctioned.
District Judge Parker has called the hearing to provide Kraken lawyers an opportunity to answer questions she deems relevant on whether she should sanction them. She is making clear that she has read all the briefs, does not want lawyers re-arguing what they've written.
"I have questions I want to give you the opportunity to answer," Judge Parker says.

Anyone have any dog pics?
Thanks for all the 🐶📸, folks

I’m not sure how much of a difference they’re making today, but I appreciate the effort

PSA to aspiring journos: Unless you have the family or school/internship connections to start you on a unbroken string of full time jobs, do something else.
I'm 100 percent serious. I often get approached by aspiring journalists (usually on @LinkedIn aka the most useless platform for job hunting ever created) who ask me for advice.

It is all so very depressing because I have no good advice to offer. This is an industry in which...
