TTA, TTP, ISIS / ISKP...a Thread.
Every time there is an attack on Pak SFs, a segment suddenly pops up incriminating TTA.
A lot of confusion exists wrt the term "taliban" in our public.
In this thread, I'll make an effort to explain it in Pak's NS perspective.

TTA, is a continuation of Tbn regime of late 90s Afg. It's sole purpose is to rid Afg of foreign invaders. It has never been a part of any T attack against Pak.
Haqqani NW. A couple of dozen groups, who support TTA, coord their ops; never operated against Pak just as TTA.

TTP. It was formed by Abdullah Mehsud, who was captured by US forces in Afg in Dec 2001 but mysteriously released from Guantanamo Bay prison by US in 2004.
Starting in SWA, org quickly spread into ex FATA and certain dists. Its primary course was to target Pak and it's SFs.

But it served other purposes for it's masters as well.
It created that chaotic space for groups such as ETIM, IMU, Chechen fighters etc to target China / Russia and their interests in the region, while retaining plausible deniability.

...entice Pak Army into hitting TTA, thereby shifting the CoG of war from Afg to Pak.

TTA, also tolerated TTP; primarily to prevent infighting. TTP, at times carried out token ops against NATO to appease TTA. There were also agreements with GoP from time to time. TTPs ldrs were tgt by US drones over similar issues....
So a new player was introduced..

ISKP. It drew heavily from the TTM; Mohmand faction of TTP. A number of foreign fighters also joined it. This org acted so rash that even TTA had to give up infighting caution and attacked them a number of times. Infact ISKP is the group against which both TTA & ANA operated

..together. CIA once had to evacuate ISKP fighters in unmarked helis once surrounded by both TTA and ANA.
ISKP is a group that TTA has to eliminate, otherwise, it's commitment of safety to Afg neighbors will remain challenged.
